Wenzel Dresden-Postplatz — Restaurant in Dresden

I only gave this place two stars, because the food is rather tasty and the ambiente is nice with robust chairs and tables and clean toilets. The portions are quite obviously smaller than well established alternatives in the area but the price is still the same. Also it didn't happen to me in a long time, that I would need to have a word with the waiter. In the last round instead of two regular beers we got only one small beer, which I politely refused to accept. I even offered to keep it and get another small beer, which I would see together as one regular one so the unfortunate small beer doesn't have to go down the drain. The waiter left the beer there and probably thought will get away with it. I than stood up after nothing happened for some time and brought the beer to the counter and said I am still awaiting the two regular beers at the table of 6. The waiter suggested, he thought at the time I still have so much left, that together with what I have left a small beer makes a full regular one in his eyes. I haven't been suggested how to drink my beer before and I really think this should best be left to my judgement. After a while we finally got the last two beers. After approaching the staff quite a few times (asking for a table, ordering drinks, asking for a couple more minutes to decide on the menu) in English, we needed to ask for a English menu to get some help and get them to speak in English with us. How difficult it is if someone talks to you in English to answer them in English and not in German? We had quite a hard time trying to figure it out what to eat. Hier waren wir letzten Freitag zum Mittagessen. So ganz ohne Reservierung konnte uns ein Tisch für 2 Personen zugewiesen werden, obwohl das Restaurant gut besucht war. Das und jeder weitere Kontakt mit dem Servicepersonal verlief sehr aufmerksam und freundlich. Wir besitzen Kundenkarten, auf die es zurzeit z. B. ein „Geburtstagsessen“ (Hauptspeise + kleines Getränk) gratis gibt. Wir nutzten die Karte meines Mannes und orderten insgesamt ein kleine Bier, ein kleines Wasser, Svícková (zusätzlich Rotkohl) und Wenzel Leckerbissen. Getränke und Speisen wurden zügig serviert. Alles sah ansprechend aus, vor allem die Optik vom Brett mit den Leckerbissen war ich angetan. Die Mengen beider Gerichte war ordentlich. Mein Mann war sehr zufrieden mit seinem Essen. Ich konnte aufgrund der Menge nicht alles aufessen. Eine halbe Portion hätte mir genügt. Ansonsten war ich zufrieden. Die gebackenen Käseecken waren recht fest. Die Röstitaler und das Knobibrot schmeckten mir sehr. Auch der Salat war nach meinem Geschmack. Die Preise sind in Ordnung, zumal wir tatsächlich nur die Leckerbissen, den Rotkohl und das Wasser bezahlten. Die Toiletten befinden sich im Obergeschoss und waren sauber.
