Great German food. In this Dusseldorf street, you have so many German restaurants however majority offer chips with burger, which doesn't feel German. This restaurant seem to serve German dishes. I tried the Rheinischer dish which is a Rhenish marinated beef in raisin sauce served red cabbage, potato dumplin, sliced almond. This cost 18.50 euro and the potion was very good, it was filling I couldn't finish it. I took the rest home as takeaway. Taste was ok, first bite of the beef was very good then later became stale. Others ordered the Ofenfrische dish which is the pork leg on top of red cabbage and mashed potato. This cost 18.90 euro and in terms of taste it was not that great. It looked great on the dish and in picture though. I was surprised the dish came just within 10mins of ordering. We ordered some drinks and they came within 2mins. I ordered the malt which tasted good, it tasted like Malta guinness but with less sugar. However the glass size was slightly smaller than other soft drink. The apple juice with sparkling water tasted diluted and not too sweet. The drinks must be placed on the saucer paper as the server served us which was cool 👍 The restaurant aesthetic were very nice it felt like 90s Germany. No music was played in the background, just noise of so many Germans. Walls are decorated with paintings and emblems. The restaurant was clean, toilet was clean and had large availabilities of toilets. There was a lady sitting at the entrance, I think she might be the cleaner I don't know, but I see some restaurant customers tipping her. I don't know if it is mandatory to tip her but I didn't and her expression was not good. The waiter was nice and quick in serving, however when it was time to pay, his mood changed. I think he expected a tip, but his patience went thin when we were trying to calculate the cost of our order and he said "I don't have all day" 😑. All in all, it was a good restaurant. I recommend because they serve German food and not burgers and chips "german" restaurants out there. But I would not return again.

Hmmm. This is a wonderful place that is for sure, interesting tavern / beer hall. Firstly the ability to speak German is key as the staff can converse in very limited English *tourist note* (too be fair this is Germany). The wait staff tend to be blunt and straightforward expecting you to know what you want as soon as you see the menu. During the busy periods the place is completely rammed full and food can take a while to arrive after ordering. We were a large group of about 16 people, the quality of the food was a bit hit and miss. Issue just being some of the food was over cooked / dry possibly because of the wait to bring everything out at once. Ordering drinks was smooth that was far more simple for the staff. Most important thing, if you want to eat at this place make sure you book or you will probably get turned away during busy times.

I like the atmosphere and the food. But this time the service was terrible. We waited around 45 minutes between our starter and the main course. And 2 of the starters came 6-8 minutes later than the others. Drinkorder was sooo late that the still water I ordered in the beginning first came when I was almost finished with my redwine. The salad to 2 Wienerschnitzel first came when they were nearly finished with schnitzel. When the waiter came with my second glass of redwine he spilled on my shirt . And totally ignored it. And the waiter didn't seems pleased when he realised that he didn't get any tips when we paid. It's not a service I'm used to in this restaurant We ate there 2 days earlier for lunch and there the service was very good. I hope it was a one time mistake

Came here for the pork knuckles like most people. It didn't disappoint. Since we were with a big party, 9 people. They gave us two shared platters instead of individual plates. The skin of the pork knuckles is very crispy and the meat is a bit dry, but still ok. The schnitzel were recommended to us, but it was just ok, not very delicious. The rest of the dishes on the platter were just average. If you haven't already had pork knuckles before in Germany, I'd recommend just getting that. The staff were friendly, but didn't understand English very well. But we managed.

If you are traveling through Duesseldorf and want to experience a great authentic German meal you can't go wrong with a stop here. I personally tried the Oxtail ragout (stew) which had a phenomenal flavor along with a great portion size (think about splitting it). The interior fits exactly with how you imagine an old German restaurant to look and feel right down to the wavy floor you experience while heading to the restrooms. Highly recommended.

It's a very large restaurant and beer laden. They can host hundreds of guests With such volume they also do a good service by covering guests. Although sometimes you may not see them back but a reminder necessary Their heer is tasty and also they offer varieties of non alcoholic drinks. Their food was also tasty and nicely done. It's located in the old town and no parking space available.
