English and German texts in the display cases and on many walls. Graceful data visualization. The windows frame the old town charms and make them part of the museum experience, thanks to prime location and meandering layout. Inspiring presentation and juxtaposition of cultures. 3 hours (minimum) recommended for those interested in the theme and love reading the background info. The self-service locker cabinets on the ground floor take both 1 euro and 2 euro coins. You get the coins back as you unlock. Great for raining days, though not a waste of sun on a sunny day, either. A Cool and relaxing walk from the Heinrich-Heine subway (U-bahn) station, or from the Poststrasse tram station (line...

An exhaustive collection. There's simply so much to see, covering almost all periods from prehistory onwards and virtually all continents. The bulk of the collection however comprises German porcelain. Even here there are some gaps, such as the Wiener Werkstatte.

I could have spent hours inside. There are some stunning items. I would have posted some examples but, alas, no photography allowed at all. I understand why, because many pieces are in private collections, but this could be rectified by at least having a guidebook to the collection.

Nevertheless, if you're into pots, you'll love this...

Stockwerk an. Derzeitig stellt der Künstler Leiko Ikemura...

Ceramic museum, with historical BC to artsy contemporary pieces. Stuff from all over the world. You only come here only if you like ceramics. The museum goes through ancient use of clay up to the present time. Lots of beer mugs and a lot more, China, Japan, French, Byzantine, Turkish, lslamic and more. Porcelain plates and a few very contemporary ceramic pieces. Once again, come here only if you love the history of clay and porcelain.Great view on the street from window

If you love ceramics, you should definitely go there. Museum was the collection of Laurenz Heinrich Hetjens, who donated his belongings to Düsseldorf. Museum has a wide collection of different cultures from Africa, Asia, Anatolia and Europe. The views from the windows are nice. The set ups are beautifully decorated and have brochures about the tables and the content.
