Engel Rockbar — Restaurant in Dusseldorf

Racist bouncer, Avoid! I was looking forward to this place and greeted the bouncer with a smile upon entry, to which he simply shook his head and pointed me to go back where I came from without saying a word.

I was a little confused at first and thought maybe there was too many males in the bar, but he simply called the next person in line (also a male, but white) through to enter the bar without issue. Also noted a guy drinking in there with a dildo glued to his hat, so it stuns me he was let in and I wasn't o_O

Just to note, I was clean, smartly dressed and importantly completely sober, (Engel Rockbar would have been the first drink of the night).

I am mixed race and this is the first time in my life I have ever been refused entry to a bar, period!

I was so shocked and embarrassed by this I simply went back to the hotel. Such a shame as before I went I read the other reviewers comment about being denied entry because of race and thought it was a one off, I guess...

This place is by far one of the worst pubs I’ve ever been in purely based on the clientele.

We visited this place and we were made to feel so uncomfortable that we left within 2 minutes of being there.

When we arrived, we stood at the bar to order a couple of drinks. An older man who was sat at the bar, literally started staring at us for no reason. We asked if we could help, and as we did that, he turned his chair to stare at us even further. Some people are just so unpredictable, unhinged and confrontational and we didn’t want to take the risk as this guy looked genuinely warped. Dread to see what it gets like later on as we visited pretty early. This may have been a one off situation, but based on other reviews of racism, argumentative and confrontational people, sounds like it might be the norm here so personally I’d avoid this place if you are looking for...

we spent a few hours playing pool and taking shots at the bar. my friend left for a few minutes to get herself a drink from another place and when she came back they said that she can’t enter with a drink, or she has to be drinking something from the bar as well (we had been taking shots from the bar) she anyway said okay, she was just gonna come in and let us know she’s back but she will be outside drinking her drink. so the staff member let her in. when she came inside another staff member started yelling at her to leave immediately and when we explained that she only came in to let us know she’s back and that she was gonna leave immediately, the staff member started yelling and us and being rude to us, she was speaking over us yelling ‘no’ even though we told her that her colleague said it was okay to come in if she was gonna leave...
