We went there on a Saturday afternoon. The place was half empty inside and the initial welcome was quite nice.
But the service deteriorated as the afternoon progressed. The waiter mixed up the order despite our friend having clearly ordered a salad with mushrooms. The waiter brought her the one with duck and rudely said ' THIS is what you ordered, sorry , you HAVE to eat this'. She was ok with the mix up and ate it but I was frankly a bit shocked that this level of poor service can happen in 2021!
A friend went to the bar to pay since she had to leave earlier and she was treated quite rudely too.
Finally when it was our turn to pay at the table, he made a big fuss when one of asked whether card payment would be possible. HE was like 'We are not a supermarket and we cannot take small payments by card'. Fair enough and clearly you are not a supermarket. You are barely a half-decent restaurant.
The food was OK, but the shocking level of poor service for a half empty restaurant made me wonder. Especially in these times, when people are starting to return to restaurants, why would I go back to this place when there are at least 20 other restaurants on this street, beats me!
Pity because I wanted to make this a regular weekly meetup with some work friends for dinner, since we were looking for a nice, German restaurant for awhile in this area.
Surprised and my sincere advice to anyone from the restaurant reading this review, is please take a long hard look at how you treat you staff. I am of the firm opinion that how you treat your staff is how your staff treats your patrons.
We won't be returning in a hurry, I am sure they don't care. We'd rather spend our money someplace that truly cares about what they serve its customers and how they treat...
Read moreThe restaurant is located next to a street where a terrace in good weather conditions is available. We have been lucky and were able to eat outside. Himmel&Aehd is a typical german and local place. It is the place where you order beer, especially Alt beer. You order your beer and your glass will be refilled until you put your beer deck upon the glass. This is the sign for the waiter stopping service. This functions pretty well. The waiter passes by, exchange your empty beer glass with a freshly filled one and makes a small mark on your beer deck. I have ordered a Schnitzel with mushrooms and patatoes. The Schnitzel was as big as my plate ð― swimming in a brown mushroom sauce. It was not the finest cuisine but tasty with the beer. I wasn't able to touch the patatoes with such an enormous portion of meat and its breading. I loved the place anyway because of the customers in the restaurant and the waiter and his very cool, friendly way of serving. Always with a smile and lots of humour! Bravo. You made this place great! The restaurant has my recommendation if you look for a typical german restaurant, big portions and a lot of good beer, people and great atmosphere. Hint : only cash is accepted, so be prepared if...
Read moreThe worst service ever! The waitress was in a terrible bad mood to serve us. Even after we told her weâre waiting for a friend to place our food order she was pushing us to order quickly. When they brought the food they were almost trowing the plates in the table. After that the waitress was often ignoring us when we were trying to order some drinks and finally when we got the bill we asked her to have pur food wrapped because was a lot left and she ignored our request for 3 times always saying us to wait and the she brought the foil and threw on the table to us wrapped the food and left murmuring. The food was good but the whole experience...
