Last night, my friend and I went to Rosie's for dinner, our usual spot for brunch. We were greeted by the owner, but when my friend asked about seating for two, despite numerous empty tables, the boss replied with a smile that they were available but not for 3 hours because women talk too much !!! we found a spot and ordered tea to start. Within minutes, the owner returned, insisting that if we weren't ordering food, we should vacate the table, and directed us to less comfortable seating. Feeling unwelcome, we decided not to order dinner here and we relocated. Ironically, nearby, three men were enjoying drinks without facing such scrutiny. The Tea came. 10min later despite our efforts to enjoy our tea, the owner returned, now claiming all tables were reserved, abruptly asking us to leave. Read moreas my name is Rosie, as soon as I spotted the listing in my google map search results after searching for somewhere to eat (and the existing good reviews) I knew I had to visit.
I'mr really glad I did as both times when I visited earlier this week (I was on holiday in Dusseldorf) I had a really nice meal. Service was attentive and prompt, and the atmosphere was relaxed. I'm vegetarian (occasional fish eater) and appreciated there were good options without meat.
I particularly liked the menu options where you had almost a mini "3 course meal" experience, with a small "sweet", and various small individual items like the avocado and hummus bagel. Read moreAbout once a year I eat a meal so amazing that I am almost moved to tears. I've experienced this twice at Rosie's. The coffee, espresso and cappuccinos here are perfect. The breakfast menu is diverse and wonderful. Lunch is amazing. My favorite is the Spanish breakfast, but everything (I do mean everything) on the menu is fantastic.
Be ready to wait a bit for your meal and perhaps for service. Amazing food is worth waiting for. Don't be afraid to flag a host/hostess if you need to order. It's a busy place and it's the cultural norm to let someone know if you need something.
Thanks, Rosie's, for taking care of me during my stay...
