We should all give businesses the opportunity to fix issues. This hotel is only still at the lower "ok" level, for a number of reasons. First when I arrived in my room the toilet wasn't clean, maybe it didn't flush properly after cleaning which would account for the 'floaters' so giving them the benefit of the doubt here. I just flushed and carried on. I was in the bathroom, door open obvs as it's just me + 30 degree day, when a staff member used a key and opened my door without knocking. Luckily I had the security chain on, however they pushed ahead opening the door with such force that the lock physically came out of the door frame. Not overly thrilled, I do logically think eh they can fix this or move me, no big deal, MUST get to work. When I left I popped past reception - dangling lock in hand and was told no problem, they'd fix it. I'm like, cool thanks. 8 hours later upon returning to the room nothing had been fixed just two holes in the door frame there still and I'm already looking to be late for dinner. There was no offer of a move to a secure room, and as hotel that actively markets on their website "female-friendly" accommodations I think it's reasonable for me to have been confused at why they were confused (?!) when I was forced to get a bit pushy and very firmly state I'm not comfortable as a female travelling alone to continue to stay in a room that I personally can't secure, especially when my experience so far at this hotel is staff just walk right in while I'm in the buff. Literally every single traveller world-wide knows that the chain (or a bolt lock) is the ONLY thing that gives us a guests some control/ownership over our own security - in this particular case it was the one thing that prevented my being an unwilling participant in a full frontal show where I'd have rather not been the star. I'm then late for dinner as I am given a key for a new room. To be clear this room states on the door "executive room" but this room near identical to the previous base level room I was in - except the base room had a much bigger bathroom. The "executive room" also lacked items that they both advertise online and that were in my base room - like no face washer, no robe etc.. there's also no tea. The room I was moved to also has no independent lock so I'm rapidly back in a situation where I'm confused as to why the front desk lady is confused that I'm at this point starting to get annoyed - in the end I just gave up as I was now late for dinner. Side note - I then make the mistake of saying yes to a drink at the downstairs bar before we head off for a team dinner. A Moscow Mule, which is on the drink menu, does not contain vodka and cranberry juice. For a good 100 years it's just vodka ginger beer and lime. Not vodka, about 50mls of ginger ale an 200 ml of cranberry juice - upon pointing this out to the bar tender I end up again in this hotel confused as to why a staff member is confused at the situation. Despite disliking cranberry I again just give up. I pay €12 for a completely different drink to what I ordered and crack on, may as well live a little and make the best of what after one sip could have only been watered down vodka. I don't even have the patience to type the detail about about the breakfast but long story short it ended with me handing my semi-filled plate to the staff member harassing me for a credit card AS I stood at the buffet trying to pick a cheese. So here I sit in the room, having had no breakfast, unable to make a cup of tea, fully clothed (mostly out of fear) in a room with no independent lock, on what is a 30 degree day with an underperformed...
Read moreFinally posting this after a year of no resolutions and no help ⚠️theft at Leonardo dusseldorf city centre with no resolution and little help from the hotel staff ⚠️
I was staying in Leonardo Dusseldorf hotel City Center between 3/9/2022 - 5/9/2022. When i returned back to the hotel at 11:50 pm on 4/9/2022 me and my friend realised our room (412) had been broken into and someone had gone through all of our luggage. The things missing were my headphones (sony wh-1000xm4 over 200 euros worth). These headphone were lying right on the table of room 412 and would have been easily seen had someone entered the room in a hurry. The tea station had been disturbed and it looked like someone had rummaged through the things to look for valuables. Later my friend realised her air pods (Mi true wireless - 20 euros) were also missing from her backpack and a few essentials that had been in her suitcase were lying on the floor. We looked all over the room and found many things to be disturbed, such as things thrown around in the luggage and went immediately to the reception to report the theft.
The hotel staff did not give this much attention and repeatedly said they cannot do anything. The sheer lack of care was shocking. On google and tripadvisor there are other reviews of guests having things stolen from the same hotel with no action taken. When I woke up I had to rush back to Berlin but spoke to the manager and was told I should file a police report.
I filed a police report immediately and have reached out to the hotel multiple times. They fail to reimburse me as per their hotel liability & theft policy. They also make me go around circles between the hotel manager and someone else in their staff who handles insurance claims. First they blamed me for not putting the headphones in the locker. Please note the locker is not big enough for a laptop, camera, headphones. Now the hotel claims that the police never did an investigation while I have sent them the report number and letters stating that this is a lie. The police was unable to find a culprit and told me that the insurance matter is a civil rights issue and I would have to hire a lawyer to sort it out.
Almost a year later and after countless emails - I give up! Overall, a pathetic hotel and...
Read moreCurrently staying for 4 nights at this hotel. Check in was fantastic, very helpful. My partner accidentally selected the ‘green’ option for room service on the tablet in the room with but no problem we thought as we don’t need the bed sheets changing EVERY day, day 3 would be ok. New towels and consumables like coffee / tea would be good though. But this didn’t happen. Day 3 we put out the room service sign on the door, which is right next to the room service cupboard. We returned at 5:30 to find the room hadn’t been touched. We asked at reception (no answer on the phone) and the Asian lady said as we’d selected the green option they wouldn’t be changed for our entire stay! I explained we needed new bed sheets, new towels, we had no tea / coffee and the shampoo (if you can call it that) had ran out. She explained it would be done tomorrow. Not good enough. Our bed sheets were dirty and we had no clean towels or washing facility. How were we to wash that day? She appeared reluctant but called housekeeping and said it would be done after his break in 30 mins. We returned to the room to find new towels and that was it. We returned to reception again and asked when the bed would be changed and consumables replaced - tomorrow she insisted. I explained this was supposed to be a wonderful break for us as my partner had proposed to me that day and she didn’t seem bothered. She again reluctantly called housekeeping and she he would change the sheets for us. She said we could get tea / coffee from the bar on our return after dinner in town. We returned and asked at the bar and he didn’t have the pods for the room machines. The original lady meant to go to the bar to BUY tea / coffee - which isn’t what we wanted. We wanted it in the room and some for that evening. Customer service was shocking and very poor. The air con in our room doesn’t work and as such we need the window open. It’s SO noisy we may as well be sleeping outside. Our window also has a HUGE crack all the way along it. We booked this hotel thinking it was upmarket and somewhere lovely to stay and we’re not all that impressed so far. Also….. over €15 for a single measure of gin?? How do you...
