When we first arrived at the hotel, they had already mixed up our reservation with another customer’s. We had booked a city-view room, which we paid extra for. However, the room we were given had a view of the back of a basketball court. I spoke to the manager about the mistake, explaining that this wasn’t the room I had reserved. Her response, with a grumpy expression, was simply, “This is the city view.” There was no apology, and they didn’t offer any alternative solutions.
The staff were not friendly at all. In fact, I almost felt discriminated against by the reception staff. I was traveling with my dog and asked if they could provide a bowl for him, but they said no, even though it’s a pet-friendly hotel. Strangely, I saw another couple traveling with their dog, and they were given a bowl. I ended up buying a bowl myself—no big deal.
Later, when I was heading out with my dog, I asked if they had any small plastic bags for picking up dog waste (I had seen the receptionist give one to the other couple with a dog earlier). Again, the answer was no. To make matters worse, the doorman whispered to the receptionist, and they both started laughing while glancing at me. I have no idea what they were saying, but it felt like they were making fun of me.
The breakfast at the hotel was good, and we also had a nice dinner at the restaurant where the staff were very friendly. It’s unfortunate that I had to deal with such negative experiences at a 5-star hotel, especially considering I paid over €2,000...
Read moreThe hotel is located in front of Koenigallee. The nearby U-Bahn station is D-Graf-Adolf-Platz. So it's located not too far from the old town (everything is walkable IMHO).
The hotel building is some kind of fancy metallic structure, with a nicely decorated ground floor and a big open space (10 floors) in the middle of the building. Everywhere in the hotel the decoration has a modern vibe.
The room (I think I got an upgrade because of my hotels DOT com fidelity status) is big with modern decoration. In the entrance you will find 2 closets, one with robe / sleepers, the other with ironing stuff and a safe. Next you get a coffee station (nespresso) and a tea drawer; below is the minibar stuff.
The bed is a large one with good pillow / beddings. There's a sofa near the bed and next to it a desk with a chair. To finish with the room there's a big flat TV (some English channels) and of course a working AC
In the bathroom, I had a rain shower and a bathtub, with a classical sink and a toilet. The amenities provided are of good value (the washing product did smell very good)
The hotel provides complimentary access to the spa nearby, in this facility you will find a nice pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym etc.
In conclusion, I highly recommend this hotel, I found some flaws (some nail in a bath mat not belonging to me and minibar red wine had turned bad), but overall this hotel is really good value for money
TIP: there are 3 curtains, don't forget the first one if you...
Read moreWe stayed for 3 nights in the middle of a several week trip through Germany and the Netherlands and it was the highlight of all the hotels on the trip. ||We booked a superior room with city view and requested a high floor to be away from the noise. The pleasant young staff at reception did everything to make our stay a delight. Compliments to such an efficient and friendly young team! ||We were placed in 1071, a corner high above the trees at the end of the hall and boy it was the best sleep of the trip. Even though there was a busy street festival on the Koningsaller right below all the nights we stayed. The room is spacious and well worth the extra cost. Walk in closets let us finally unpack after a week of tiny inns. German blackout blinds and super efficient a/c had us swooning. A direct elevator from our floor to the adjacent gym and sauna meant we could unwind after long walks whenever we wished. Full service front desk that will securely store your shopping packages til you return (a must in shops-filled Dusseldorf!). Lovely valet parking and shoutout to friendly Daniel. ||Small room for improvement: front desk at the gym next door could be friendlier and more helpful as this reflects poorly on the hotel partnership. Middle Eastern valet person quite unfriendly and won’t help you unless you are also Middle Eastern! |Also quite stuffy in the hallways perhaps due to the...
