Restaurant Schlotfeger — Restaurant in Erlangen

Schlotfeger was, for more or less the past 15 years, my go-to steak restaurant. Food was always excellent, service was excellent and you could count on a great experience. As it often is, the previous owners gave it up. Our last several visits have been increasingly worse. Entire portions of the order forgotten. The waitstaff is no longer on par with the expectations for such a reputable location. The prices are no longer relatable to the experience. The last straw was tonight, New Years Eve, being asked to leave after +/- an hour because they had accepted too many reservations. Normally that isn't our problem, but it became our problem when they had the audacity to "give us the boot." Friendly staff, tasty food, generous portions.

The restaurant looks newly renovated, and the Steaks are cooked on charcoal grill.

Tried the Chimney sweep plate 2x250 g, skewer made from beef fillet, pork loin and grilled bacon, with vegetables, 2 sauces and duchess potatoes…very good!

The veggies were overcooked so they didn’t have a crunch to them, but overall they were good.

The meal came with soups so we tried the cream of mushroom soup and French onion soup. Both were very tasty.

To finish off the meal we chose the crepe for dessert and it was nice.

Schlotfeger has been my favourite restaurant in Erlangen for the last 5 years due to the winning combination of great steak and good beer. I never found the service anything to comment on but my visit today (Wednesday eve) was nothing but friendly and attentive.
