My wife and I recently dined at Coq Au Vin, opting for their 4-course dinner. We sat on the terrace, which, although on the street, still provided a comfortable setting. Inside, the restaurant had a cozy and inviting atmosphere.
To start, I had the Warm Goat Cheese Breaded with Sesame on Rocket Salad. The sesame crust added a nice texture, but the goat cheese lacked the creamy richness I expected. My wife chose the Salmon Tartare with Avocado. Unfortunately, the salmon didn’t seem particularly fresh or high-quality, and the dish overall fell short.
For the second course, I had Grilled Scallops with Lobster Sauce on Pearl Barley Risotto. The scallops were small and lacked flavor, though the lobster sauce added some interest. My wife’s Fried Duck Liver with Port Wine Sauce on Truffle Mashed Potatoes was rich and flavorful, though it was the cheese plate that ultimately turned out to be better.
The main course was Saddle of Lamb with Porcini Mushroom Sauce, served with vegetables and potato gratin. The lamb was tender, and the potato gratin was a highlight—creamy and well-prepared. The dish was enjoyable but not particularly memorable.
For dessert, I had Panna Cotta with Wild Berry Mirror, which was the standout of the meal. The panna cotta was smooth and creamy, and the berry sauce was a lovely balance of sweetness and tang. My wife opted for the Cheese Plate, which was well-curated and more enjoyable than expected.
Service was somewhat slow but acceptable for a relaxed evening. Overall, while Coq Au Vin had its high points, such as the panna cotta and potato gratin, the meal was inconsistent and didn’t fully meet our...
Read moreHighly recommend you to book a table before you go as the restaurant is really small. It was a great evening spent in this restaurant except the table we got was uncomfortable to sit and to move and I found it too small for 5 of us so that was thing that annoyed me the most.
Service at the beginning was a bit unpleasant but after a while she got more relaxed and smiled (finally).
The variety isn’t that big, but they do have all classic French cuisine and also the course menu. Coq au vin is a must!
Pricing topic for me was really fair, it wasn’t expensive for what you got.
Food was really good, I’d say nothing fancy just simple but tasted real good, the place and food give you the 90s vibes which I love.
Overall it’s a great evening and we will definitely...
Read moreI’m French and brought my colleague to this place to make her discover French cuisine. The entrée was ok and the duck was really good but when it came to dessert we waited over an hour and still didn’t get it. When we asked the waiter about it he said we would get it in 15 mins. So we decided to leave because we weren’t hungry anymore at this point but when he gave us the bill we noticed he made us pay for all 3 courses even though we didn’t eat the dessert and it wasn’t even prepared… In the end we had a small discount but it still cost way too much for what it was....
