Favourite Sushi & Ramen — Restaurant in Frankfurt

Overrated. Craving for ramen and Muku next door looks enticing. Unfortunately it was close Monday and Tuesday. Thought i would give favorite sushi a try given the high rating. Taste not much better than instant noodle, soup lacks depth of broth from boiling bones, noodles uninspiring. What surprised me was the bottle water. I asked for just regular water instead of sparkling. Instead I was given a bottle water. Didnt think much until I received the check - $3.20 for a bottle of water sold for $1.50 on vending machine on central station and $0.50 on Rewe next door. Really? And no credit card either. Owner told English guy before me no visa, only German card, but scan the guy's phone anyway which worked. I wasn't lucky enough to have a different attendant at least scan my card, but sent me to ATM across the street. A little fruit for desert was a nice touch but does not make the food taste better nor improve overall experience. Tourist be aware...

I ordered a tekka sushi roll with cucumber and avocado. As soon as the plate was laid on my table I could smell non fresh fish smell. The tuna was grey. You can see it on the photo I took.

I tasted it, it didn’t really taste of much if I drenched it in soy sauce, definitely not good sushi. I complained, told them that I’ve not seen such grey tuna and that it smells. I was told that this is a “different kind of tuna” and that it was okay.

I’m not a sushi expert, but this was just plain bad sushi with old fish in it. Try uploading this photo to google lens and search, you’ll find no tuna sushi that looks like this. I didn’t finish the roll and they didn’t...

This sushi restaurant opens next to another popular one called muku, so it must survive for a reason. I actually wanted to try out muku but that one was fully booked, so I just walked in to this restaurant. Honestly I was surprised how good their food quality could be. The teriyaki ramen soup was super delicious (almost the best I have had in Germany), the teriyaki sauce was also wonderful, chicken absolutely fresh. The premium sushi rolls were large and juicy. Besides they gave me some free fruits with a warm smile. I would absolutely recommend...
