Heberer's Traditional Bakery — Restaurant in Frankfurt

The bakery has plenty of options especially for pretzels. The one I had was good enough. The main problem is the service. It is SO SLOW. I wouldn't mind if it was in the city or somewhere else but in the airport, where people may have a very short time to layover and need to grab something quick to eat then this is a problem. Of course you have the option to leave and get food somewhere else but if you have already waited for some time then you think that it is maybe better waiting a little bit more there rather than going somewhere else and having to wait again. Also, even though I spoke to the lady in English she then talked to me probably in German. Then she was speaking with her colleague while I was trying to tell her that I would like to get the receipt. She was doing everything so slowly! The place already has very bad reviews so hopefully they start doing something about it. Terrible pretzel I should have eaten the wrapper instead. Got a cappuccino and it was nasty. Way over extracted. Tasted very weak and acidic and now I have a nasty taste in my mouth for hours. Strange thing is it is an automatic machine so someone has it set up to be nasty. I was very hungry and needed a coffee was the first place I came across and I chose wrong. Should have checked the reviews. On the plus side it was very busy and the staff was friendly and efficient. They were smiling and getting orders out. I always stop here on my way from Cairo to the US. Great sandwiches ready to go, butter pretzels, and nice selection of German pastries. At Christmas grab a stollen to take home, they are great and travel well in your carry on. I'm savoring a beautiful, juicy, cherry strudel- type breakfast with s latte.
