The Taj Mahal provides a genuine Indian dining experience that instantly takes you to the colourful streets of India. The inviting staff, cosy decor, and heady scent of spices greet you as soon as you walk in, setting the mood for a fantastic meal. The restaurant's interior design perfectly combines modern and classic elements. A cosy and welcoming ambiance is created by warm colours and softly lighting lanterns. Classic Indian music plays in the background, adding to the whole dining experience without drowning out discussion. Spice of India offers excellent service. I also want to give a special thanks to Sarah, who made our eating experience amazing by always observing our requirements and preferences. The staff is informed, responsive, and happy to provide recommendations, so even those unfamiliar with Indian cuisine feel at ease. The menu provides a full tour of India's unique gastronomic terrain, giving you a sense of home. The Butter Chicken is a highlight dish, with soft chicken pieces encased in a thick, creamy tomato sauce that is both sweet and spicy. The mango lassi, a classic yogurt-based drink, provides a refreshing and cooling counterpoint to the spiciness. The portion sizes are considerable, making it fantastic value for money. Highly...

I had high expectations for the restaurant because it looks good from the outside and it is always busy. (I have mostly seen non-Indians eating there.)
Everything we ate:
Veg Pakora – 2/5 (Portion size: Good) It was oily.
Paneer Butter Masala – 2/5 (Portion size: Small) The waiter asked if we wanted it spicy; we said medium spicy. But the dish ended up being sweet. I have never had a sweet paneer butter masala before. The paneer itself was good.
Palak Paneer – 2/5 (Portion size: Small) The spinach was chewy and a bit undercooked for our liking. The paneer was prepared in a bhurji style, and it was okay.
Garlic Naan – 5/5 (Portion size: Good) It was delicious and exactly what we expected.
Mango Lassi – 3.5/5 (Portion size: Small) It was good but a little too sweet.
We ordered only vegetarian food. The menu had only a few vegetarian options. We don’t know how the non-vegetarian options taste, though there was a variety of them.
To be honest, the price was on the expensive side.
Verdict: It is an Indian restaurant for non-Indians. (Review based only on...
Read moreMy first experience with Indian food in an Indian restaurant! We had a lovely evening, with attentive and consistently friendly service from our waiter - a genuinely kind person. The Chicken Tandoori arrived sizzling hot, with a balanced, intense spiciness. The accompanying mint sauce was subtle, and the rice, likely enriched with butter or oil, added a pleasant flavor. The recommended Palak Paneer was excellent: creamy cottage cheese paired with spinach and onions, enhanced by seasonal herbs for a satisfying dish. The Garlic Naan was crispy yet soft, with a garlic flavor that perfectly complemented the spices.
Another great recommendation was the Mango Dream. Though we were already full, we shared this dessert, which made for a perfect ending. The vanilla ice cream had a wonderful, natural flavor, and the mango purée was intensely fruity and refreshing. The drinks paired well: the Mango Lassi was cool and not overly sweet, and the cold beer balanced the rich flavors of the main dishes beautifully. The restaurant atmosphere is cozy, modern and inviting - a place we’d...
