My first visit to Brühwerk in Hamburg completely exceeded expectations. At first, the queue outside made me hesitate—but once inside, I quickly understood why people are happy to wait. The interior is tastefully modern—fresh and stylish, but not overdesigned. It has personality, but it doesn’t try too hard. The menu is simple and smart, with a few sweet options as well. I tried their pecan cookie, and honestly? I’m not even into cookies, but this one was next level. Rich, soft, flavorful—pure luxury. The real surprise for me was their seasonal matcha drink, which converted me into a matcha fan. Smooth, not too sweet, and just wonderfully balanced. The staff were friendly and easygoing, and we enjoyed sitting outside in the quiet garden area. The only downside? The batch brew coffee didn’t quite hit the same standard—it was fine, but not outstanding. Still, this place clearly puts care into quality, and the vibe reflects that. Highly recommended. The only thing I truly don’t understand is the opening hours – compared to cafés in major cities across Europe or the U.S., they feel unnecessarily short. Closing at 5 PM? That feels wild to me, but of course, that’s just my personal take.

I really like the cafe (especially the Matcha Latte) there! - nice drinks - free water - good atmosphere - free wifi - clean and well-managed tables - clean bathroom! And because I like this cafe, I would like to share some points they can make better. - the wifi connection upstairs was not stable - I went to this cafe (3-4 times) because I heard that it's a good cafe to work, but actually I didn't feel welcomed when I worked there. i didn't feel comfortable when their staff comes and collected used cups from customers sitting upstairs. I assume they need to wash and use it for next customers, but it feels like I'm being pushed to leave. The staffs also said nothing (like hello, excuse me, or how was coffee?, etc.) and just collected cups on the table. It's not a restaurant, and I rarely experienced such situations in another cafes. That's the big reason I'm not going there when I want to work. But the cafe is still on my list because of other good reasons. Maybe I will visit there again with my friends. :)

Modern café ambience with excellent service. The baristas are talented and pleasant. When we arrived after 10am on a Monday, the place was quite busy and few open tables on either floor. It is less than a 5 minute saunter from the Jungfernstieg U bahn stop. Seems to be very popular with the under 40 crowd. Our large double shot lattes were good, though—maybe not spectacular. 😉 We did not sample the goodies, their pastries also seem to be very popular amongst the patrons.

the staff worked very slowly, despite a big line, in which we stood for 20-30 minutes. we ordered a matcha latte and an americano with milk (and made a special request for the coffee to be extra hot). in result, the matcha latte had powder clumps and the coffee was bland in taste, felt like it was too diluted with water or something, and was just barely warm. definitely was not worth the time we spent waiting, and even a coffee from a machine on a train station would probably have...
