WORST BURGER AND FRIES

Before spending your money on tasteless food, consider famous fast food brand 3 min. away. It will save you money and time.

I came in at 6 p.m. Friday, when the restaurant was packed and asked for a table for 2 w/o a prior reservation. The waitress was very nice and offered as it seemed the last one inside. From that moment on the good experience was over.

The order consisted of 2 Brooklyn Cheese Burgers with Vegetarian patty, regular fries (charged separately, not served with the Burger), sweet potato fries (also not included with the Burger), St. Germain Cocktail, Apricot Spitz. The whole bill was around 60 EUR.

The food was delivered after 1h 20min, so the kitchen must be very understaffed.

The food was terrifyingly bad. It’s a mystery how a person can take so many ingredients and make it all tasteless. My partner and I even got a brief concern of having Covid. Thankfully was not the case. The most flavorful were: A sauce, which came with sweet potato fries and a hair (photo attached). The patty. In 2023 it’s a shame to use this as a meat substitute. Truly disgusting.

My partner and I had a different approach at the table. He swallowed everything as fast as possible not to waste money and not to taste the tasteless part and the disgusting part. I just left 80% of my food on the plate.

First time in my life was considering warning new arrivals to the BBB about the food and sharing recommendations for nice diners in the area.

P.S. In a lot of countries not offering a bill after paying would be considered as a reason to check and fine the restaurant, I have no clue how it works in Germany. Nevertheless regularly people would like to see what...

The room is in a fairly dark style with a beautiful wood work. Loved it! Then there is menu. They have a decently big selection of burgers and around 4-5 that are available as vegetarian options. You can tune the burger as much as you want with extra patties or onions, cheese or sauce. I had the standard burger with a cheese patty instead of meat or the normal veggy option. On top of that it's a bar with a three pages gin selection as well as multiple page wine selection. Many interesting sounding cocktails add to the beer of the month or hot drinks you can order. The atmosphere is great. Calm and relaxed. A place you can visit after work to end the day on a good note. Sadly we sat next to the door and my friend felt cold the entire time. Leider ist mir dieses Lokal nicht in guter Erinnerung geblieben, daher werde ich dort sicher nicht erneut einkehren... Das Ambiente ist besonders, jedoch ist alles etwas eng. Das Lokal ist recht klein, auch wenn es noch einen hinteren Bereich gibt, den ich aber nicht wirklich gesehen habe. Daher verstehe ich, dass man den Laden als Besitzer gerne so voll wie möglich bekommen möchte und anscheinend wird er das auch immer wieder, was mich nach meiner Erfahrung aber wundert. Nun, die Enge macht es aber ungemütlich dort, finde ich und nicht nur ich (wir waren mehrere Leute). Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, aber dies kann sich schnell ändern, später mehr dazu. Das Essen... Qualitativ sehr gut, denke ich. Dafür allerdings sehr sehr teuer. Ein Burger OHNE jegliche Beilagen für mehr als 15€ ist schon happig, auch wenn man zwischen den Scheiben um die 200g Fleisch vorfindet, laut Karte. Schmecken tut aber anscheinend nicht alles dort, denn der Salat wurde von meiner Freundin als ganz und gar nicht lecker empfunden. Die Honig-Senf-Soße hat den Namen nicht verdient und die Croutons waren mehr als nur eigenartig und schmeckten auch mir nicht, als ich probierte. Die Drinks bzw. leichten Cocktails enthalten zu min. 50% Eiswürfel (ich rede nicht von Caipi und Co!) und kosten dafür ordentlich Geld. Schmecken tun sie aber, immerhin. So und nun zurück zum Personal. Anfänglich waren ausnahmslos alle sehr sehr freundlich, wirklich sehr freundlich. Aber als es dann ums Bezahlen ging, kippte die Stimmung auf Seiten der Bedienung und uns deutlich. Denn sie fing an sich über das magere Trinkgeld zu beschweren und ließ uns wissen, dass sie das nicht annehme und es skandalös findet (auch wenn sie das Wort nicht verwendet hat, wäre das mit Sicherheit das passende Wort dafür). Nun, wenn sie gewohnt ist immer mindestens 10% Trinkgeld zu erhalten, kann ich ihren Schock verstehen. Aber sind wir verpflichtet dazu? Nein. Trinkgeld gibt man, wenn man den gebotenen Service gut oder sogar überdurchschnittlich empfindet - daran und an anderen Kriterien, richtet sich die Höhe. Daher fand ich es frech, dass sie ihre Gedanken so offen äußert, denn wir sind immer noch zahlende Kunden und nicht bei der Tafel, wo man sich für den freiwilligen Dienst bedanken kann uns sollte, den die Leute dort oft ohne Bezahlung leisten.
