Caramba Especial — Restaurant in Hamburg

I don’t know where to start. Since the moment that we came inside, the whole vibe of the place was weird in a way I cannot describe. We get sited and then get told there is no menu to look at whatsoever so we just need to trust that this guy serving us is not making up the prices(more about the prices later), we picked the 3 course meal. The guy serving us was very nice and over the top, which I guess it’s not a bad thing. The first part of the course arrive and to our bad surprise this was a shared plate between all of us, which then makes me wonder why I’m paying so much just to share 3 shrimps. We then got asked for either fish or meat, this was probably the highlight of the whole meal where the meat was good and tasted nice, but sadly that’s all the complements I can give this place. We then had to wait close to 1 hour to get our dessert, just to be surprised with a “looks cool” plate that is cheap and boring (see the pictures). Sadly this was not the worse part, when the check came and we found out that the whole experience was 70€ for the 3 course meal I was stunned. Shared appetiser, ok main and cheap dessert for 70€ insane scam. I saw another review from last year paying 45.50€ for this same course and he felt scammed, so imagine how I felt. I’m sorry but the whole experience does not grant that cost, avoid if possible at this prices, not worth your money at all. Into all of that I also forgot to mention that mid dinner people trying to take pictures of you came in and then someone giving roses, like the ones you see in the street, completely ridiculous atmosphere it brings, showing it’s completely a tourist trap...

I'm really sorry to give such a poor review, because the food and the atmosphere was great. First of all, we made a reservation online, no problem so far. When we arrived, the place was packed and overcrowded. We said we made a reservation, they said ok we see what we can do. So far, so good... than it began. They wanted to place us far in the corner at the back of the bar at a table with 2 other people. They didnt ask those people if its ok. Out of respect for those 2 people, we decided to stay at the bar. We orderd drinks, good wine and beer. And afterwards they started bringing food... no menu, no prices... Nothing! I really can complain about the food because it was delicious. After the appertizer and a fish dish we decide to leave. I ordered the check... and surprise almost 90 euros.... I was in shock. First of all it was the wrong check, there were things that we didnt even order... after a lot of arguing with the waiter we came to an agreement. It is really really sad... the place is so rustic and nice, the food is really good, but management definetely needs some...

Wir waren zu dritt am Samstag 26.08.23 im Caramba Especial. Freitag wollten wir telefonisch einen Tisch um 18.30 Uhr bestellen. Da wurde uns mitgeteilt, dass ein Tisch um 18 Uhr möglich wäre. Also waren wir um 18 Uhr im Lokal und die Maschinerie um uns herum war im vollen Gange. Alle Tische belegt und eine etwas hektische und laute Atmosphäre. Uns wurde gleich mitgeteilt, dass das Haus voll ausgebucht ist und wir bis 20 Uhr den Tisch nutzen könnten. Das war schon mal eine neue und nicht so angenehme Information für uns. Warum hat man uns dies nicht bei der telefonische Reservierung mitgeteilt. Dann wären wir 30 min vorher erschienen um "Stress" zu vermeiden. Uns wurde mitgeteilt, dass es aufgrund der verbliebenen Zeit nur noch ein 3 Gang Menü für uns gibt. Vorspeise die Garnelen. Alternative gab es nicht. Hauptspeise Fisch oder Fleisch. Na dann los. Es gab pro Kopf 4 Garnelen die flambiert serviert wurden. Das Fleisch war ein argentinisches Rinderfilet (gut) und Schweinebacken (ok). Auf dem Fischteller waren 4 verschieden Filets zu finden (gut). Meine Begleitungen waren nach der öligen Vorspeise und dem Fisch so gesättigt, dass wir fragten, ob wir 2x auf die Nachspeise verzichten können. Als Antwort erhielten wir den Tipp uns erst mal mit einem Schnaps zu versorgen. 10 Minuten später war der Kellner mit der Rechnung am Tisch, da die nächste Gästeschicht nahte. Daraufhin erwähnte ich, dass ich noch meinen Nachtisch vermisse. Dieser wurde kurz danach geliefert. Schokokuchen mit flüssigem Kern und eine Art Pudding. Qualität war befriedigend. Nun kam die korrigierte Rechnung. 54,50 Euro für das komplette 3 Gang Menü und 48,50 Euro für 4 Garnelen und den Fischteller mit Gemüse/Kartoffeln. Flasche italienisches Mineralwasser (beim Portugiesen ;-)) für 7,30 Euro. Gesamtrechnung siehe Foto. Fazit: Fleisch und Fisch waren von guter Qualität. Preis und Leistung haben aber nicht zusammen gepasst. Ein Lokal im hektischen 2 Schichtbetrieb ähnelt eher einer Kantine, als einer gemütlichen Restauration. Zudem hat sich wohl der Preis für das Menü seit Anfang Juli um mehr als 12% erhöht. Für mich nicht nachvollziehbar und zu teuer. Entscheidet selbst ob euch dieser Besuch das...
