Playground Coffee St. Pauli — Restaurant in Hamburg

We discovered this coffeeshop in February 2022 when staying around the corner at east Hotel Hamburg. Since then we have been back each time we have our (now) annual getaway. The coffee is gorgeous, the service is great (the proprietor remembers us, even though he sees us once a year, and he really knows his stuff, which you will recognize just by looking at the items on his shelves), and the atmosphere is cozy and has a neighborhood/friendly feel you don't experience in many big city establishments (although that is how the St Pauli area feels in general). Great place to get a flat white or similar if you like micro-roasted / third wave style coffee. The milk is always steamed perfectly with a nice bit of latte art on top. The vibe is very St. Pauli and the crowd is a mix of hipsters and those recovering from last night's party. If you don't know St. Pauli, the neighborhood can seem a bit sketch, but this spot is worth it. They also roast their own beans, and they are actually quite good. Certainly much better than a lot of the larger competitors in the city. No idea why there isn't a second location, people...
