Just before Easter, on a chilly evening, my wife and I found us in Hamburg, passing through. A typical pause between a flight and a train. The station was buzzing with life, and right across the street stretched what looked like a culinary parade of nations: five restaurants in a row, each flickering with lights and fragrant with promise. We chose a modest Italian place with a name so predictably suspicious it bordered on cliché: Capri. No reservation, no expectations, no emotions. Just two hungry travelers with backpacks, straight off the street. Theoretically, one-time customers. In practice, what happened next exceeded anything we could have imagined. First: the waiter. The embodiment of Italian grace and courtesy. Warm, vibrant, alive—but without that oily smoothness that makes you check if the word “sucker” is written on your forehead. Second: no pushy recommendations of "daily specials" that accidentally cost as much as a night in a hotel. Third: genuine, human attentiveness. “Who are you? Where are you from?”—small talk not for the sake of selling, but for the sake of life. Fourth: the food. Not “decent.” Not “fine.” But the kind that transports you straight to Italy, if only for a moment. And fifth: a farewell glass of amaretto. Not on the bill, not “with compliments from the manager,” just offered—plain and simple—because that’s how it’s done. This restaurant has been around since 1969. Fifty-six years. And not in some picturesque tourist trap with a gondola view—but right across from a German train station. On Facebook, it’s virtually invisible. On Instagram: six hundred followers. That’s nothing. No boosts, no reels, no “Hey lovelies, today we’ve got something delicious for you.” And yet, the place is whole. People come. They eat. They return. We went back to Capri. A week after our first visit, on our way home from Hamburg to Gdańsk. By sheer coincidence, we were served by the same waiter. He recognized us. He was happy to see us. Customer recall is one of the silent cornerstones of the service world. People don’t go back to where they were served well. People go back to where they felt good.

So i am a backpacker and for the night trains/busses i need somewhere to stay for a while . I didn't want to doing it again in McD or Burger haha and I saw the restaurant and checked the prices , seemed very cheap for a restaurant like that. Just across the central station, amazing ! and the atmosphere was soo nice ! The music was perfect! But pizza , fantastisch! I ate margarita , it was so thin and big! End of the meal you feel satisfied and not hungry anymore ! It was just 9.80€. well when I looked at the menu I saw Hawaii pizza and I suprised haha I wasn't expecting perfect pizza in an Italian restaurant which has Hawaii pizza 🤪 haha kidding , was very good! Also tiramisu was delicious, can not say the best one but taste was different and good . And people were so nice and kind ! I absolutely recommend it ! ( Note : tips is not included in the bill)

I recently dined at Restaurant Capri in Hamburg and had an overall pleasant experience. The service was impressively fast and responsive, ensuring that we felt well taken care of throughout our meal. The highlight of our dining experience was definitely the Penne del Haus, which was absolutely delicious and highly recommended. While the prices were reasonable, there’s always room for them to be a bit cheaper to enhance the value further. Overall, Restaurant Capri is a great spot for a quick and tasty meal with excellent service.

Restaurant was not very full despite it being the lunch rush. That should have been a warning.

Sat down and received no service for 15 minutes, so I went up and got a menu from the bar. Still no service after another 15 minutes so I had to go to the bar to tell them we're ready to order.

Gave us the wrong order - we ordered a vegetarian calzone and they gave us the meat one with chunks of raw mushrooms. Seafood pasta had chunks of raw garlic as big as the fish. Doesn't seem like they have a knife in the kitchen (of so, didnt know how to use it) and just tear ingredients apart by hand.

Didn't check in during meal at all so we started eating the wrong order when it started getting cold. Only when another customer came in (near the end of the meal) were we able to flag down the waiter and tell him the order was wrong.

It's across from the train station and probably caters to tourists that will come once and never again. To them I suppose it doesn't make any sense to offer service or edible food, so we really shouldn't...
