Café ETTLI — Restaurant in Heidelberg

Review update: we came again to give it another try. The service is ok now, at least the staff would speak out loud when your order is ready. This is how it works with most of the cafes here normally so we are familiar with the concept of “Selbstbedingung”. What happened last time was that no one said anything about our order being ready, nor did the staff try to ask what we needed since we were standing there right in front of them for a really long time. That being said, it has improved a lot this time around. The baristas really enunciated and made sure customers at the counter are being taken care of.

Cappuccino was still quite nice, but matcha latte was not really prepared with real matcha powder and it ended up being way too sweet. The beverage menu was quite long so I recommend trying only the coffee options.

Honestly, if you’re just looking for a quick snack, this place is a solid choice. They’ve got a nice selection of desserts, some sandwiches, and of course a variety of drinks. You can also buy packaged stuff like coffee beans and tea, which is a cool little bonus if you’re into that.

It might seem small from the outside, but there’s actually more space inside than you’d expect. It’s not super big, but there are definitely enough tables to sit and chill for a bit. Plus, it’s connected to this sort-of mall area right along the main street, so it’s easy to pop in while you’re out and about.

The food was pretty good, and there’s a wide range of desserts to choose from, so there’s definitely something for everyone. Prices are fair too, nothing crazy.

Gestern Abend war ich im Café und fragte die Mitarbeiterin, ob sie koffeinfreien Kaffee hätten. Sie antwortete mit „Ja“. Also bestellte ich einen koffeinfreien Kaffee und setzte mich. Die Mitarbeiterin bereitete meinen Kaffee zu und stellte ihn auf die Ablage für fertige Getränke, ohne mir Bescheid zu geben, dass mein Getränk fertig war. Ich ging noch einmal zu ihr und fragte, ob das mein Kaffee sei, und sie sagte „Ja“. Ich fragte sie erneut, ob der Kaffee wirklich koffeinfrei sei, und sie bestätigte es mir erneut.

Als ich meinen Kaffee schließlich nahm, war er bereits kalt. Später zu Hause versuchte ich zu schlafen, aber das war nicht möglich. Ich blieb bis sehr spät in der Nacht wach, obwohl ich am nächsten Tag arbeiten musste. Letztendlich schlief ich sehr spät ein, was zu großen Problemen bei der Arbeit führte, da ich mich erheblich verspätet hatte.

Ich schreibe Ihnen nicht nur, um mich zu beschweren, sondern auch, um Sie darauf hinzuweisen, wie wichtig es ist, die Bestellungen der Kunden genau zu beachten. Solche Fehler können echte Probleme verursachen, die sich auf das Leben der Menschen auswirken. Ich schätze normalerweise den Service in Ihrem Café sehr und hoffe, dass diese Rückmeldung dazu beiträgt, das Kundenerlebnis in Zukunft weiter zu verbessern.
