Café Rossi — Restaurant in Heidelberg

This was an amazing and ridiculous experience!

We came in and it looked quite empty. Asked if we could sit and got the approval from the waitress. So she knew we were there. Then we waited. And waited. Finally the waitress came. And admitted (no prompting) that she forgot we were there. Ordered an two appetizers + main (pasta) + dessert (added whipped cream).

Then we waited. And waited. Then we got the (main) meal of another table - burgers. Then waited some more. Then we got our pasta. Barely warm. Asked if the appetizers will come. Oh yeah, she forgot.

Then we got one plate with half of one appetizer + most of the other one. Nice. After waiting a bit asked for the rest. Got also the rest. Success! Was it the thing that was described in the menu? No. But those are details.

Then the dessert came. With added whipped cream? No. Was it the dessert what we expected? Also kinda no.

Food was tasty, but cold. The names of things in the menu do not mean the dishes will be what you are expecting. Prices are not very high.

Greetings to our waitress! If you had a bad day, we hope it will get better. If this is how you always work, we wish you guests that will find it as...

Very rude staff. I am living next door and have been going to this place for over 13 years now. Two days ago I came with my little dog (a small and very quiet dachshund) and a friend. We were sitting on the terrace when one of the waitress came to order me to put my dog on the floor. It was quietly sleeping on a chair. After having taken it down, I just mentioned that it was the 1st time I was asked that (and this is true!). After that she became quite aggressive and kept on asking the same question 4 times: “This is the rule. Why aren’t you happy?” in a very dominant tone. I really took on myself to be able to remain quiet while desperately trying to explain for 4 times the fact that it was not my personal experience, but she clearly was not listening. Making her notice that, I politely asked her to stop asking the question and leave my friend and I enjoy the moment... When she finally let us in peace, she shouted Crazy in my back. Even the people at the neighboring tables were shocked and came to me to provide emotional support. It really made us feel bad, and I can say for sure that I will...

I ordered hummus that used to be served with enough bread and in a plate of a decent size. Now it is served in a tiny bowl with three thin slices of bread of course I needed more bread and we asked for it. Were charged 1,70 euros for 4 more slices of bread. Total of the bill was 25,10 but the waiter told me 26,10 and then I told him to charge 28. I thought it was too much for two drinks, a plate of hummus (6,70)and a few calamari (8,70). What was my surprise when I asked for the bill after I paid and I saw that they charged for a few slices of bread that it would be acceptable if they had added enough bread to the plate and not three thin slices, and on top of that they told me to pay more than it was written. I didn't want to start a fight for a few euros but I won't come to this place again. I have been 3 or 4 times before and this never happened. They should bring you the bill before and not just saying how much it is...
