Good meal at a good price point.

We enjoyed eating here and had a variety of dishes including the oxtail soup, the filet and ribeye, with chips and a variety of deserts.

The restaurant was lively and pleasant with a nice atmosphere and checking of vaccination on entry.

The food was good quality but the steaks would have benefitted from additional seasoning when cooking to help with the crust and overall flavour. I can definitely say they had that deep beefy umami taste though.

The oxtail soup was to thin and not tasty at all especially considering the price. It was very watery but thankfully not salty.

The chips, salad, and sides were all great.

The strawberry ice-cream and the new york cheesecake were all brilliant but the chocolate lava cake was very disappointing, definitely a best-seller based on name rather than reality. I'd definitely recommend the cheesecake.

Unfortunately, a downside to the experience was the waitress who was incredibly rude and clearly only fishing for a tip.

At the end of the meal, throughout which she had been a little curt but generally nice, we paid the bill by card. When we tip, we always tip in cash so that it goes straight to the server but the moment that the waitress saw that I put zero on the card reader, she suddenly became curt and glared at us, literally threw the card on the table and said 'bye' as she turned away.

We had intended to tip in cash and my wife was literally getting cash out as this happened but based on that response we left with no tip.

How embarassing.

So final tip - make sure you tell the staff how you are going to tip at the beginning if you want to be sure of a nice...

Located in the heart of Kiel, right next to the canal and easily accessible from the city center, Block House offers a pleasant dining experience for those who enjoy quality steaks in a modern and well-kept setting.

The service provided by the waitstaff was excellent—very friendly, attentive, and helpful, which made the table experience truly enjoyable. However, one area that clearly needs improvement is the reception. The hostess on duty in the afternoon (one of the staff members wearing a grey blazer) was noticeably unkind and unhelpful. Her attitude gave the impression of someone who doesn’t want to be there, which unfortunately affects the first impression of the restaurant.

As for prices, this is not a budget-friendly place. It falls into the mid-to-high range, which is fair for the quality of the food and service, but it’s definitely not an economical option.

Ich war gestern(09.07.25 ca. 13.00) mit meiner Frau in Kiel und wir wollten uns ein richtig leckeres Essen am Mittag gönnen. Da wir schon öfters in Blockhouse Restaurants sehr gute Erfahrungen gemacht haben, kehrten wir dort ein.Als Vorspeise wurde Zwiebelsuppe bestellt und zum Hauptgang gab es ein leckeres Filetsteak und Lammrücken. Leider ging die Bestellung schief und es wurde nur eine Zwiebelsuppe geliefert. Die zweite erst nach ca. 15 Minuten auf nochmaliges Nachfragen! Die sehr freundliche Bedienung endschuldigte sich und bot uns einen kostenfreien Nachtisch an. Nun liess der Hauptgang auch ca. 40 Minuten auf sich warten. Das Restaurant war sehr voll und laut, aber normalerweise bekommt man bei Blockhouse auch wenn es voll ist, innerhalb von 20. max. 30 Min. einen Hauptgang. Endlich konnten wir essen und wollten nun das Essen auch geniessen, da wurde der Tisch neben uns von immer mehr älteren Herrschaften besetzt, die sich dort wohl zufällig getroffen hatten. Das Problem war das es 5 Personen waren, aber der Tisch nur für 4. Darauf machte Sie auch die Servicekraft aufmerksam, aber der Restaurantchef vom Dienst sah das wohl anders und stellte einen 5 Stuhl dazu und fing an an unserem Tisch zu rücken mit den Worten"Ich rück sie mal eben etwas zur Seite".....ohne einmal zu fragen und mitten in unserem Essen. Resultat war das meine Frau komplett beengt essen musste unddie Herrschaften mit Ihren Hinterköpfen fast in unseren Getränken und Tellern hingen (Foto wurde nach Beendigung der Mahlzeit aufgenommen) Einfach unglaublich, der Restaurantleiter muss echt nachgeschult werden, sorry! Der Servicekraft war dies auch äußerst unangenehm.Den versprochenen Nachtisch lehnten wir ab und wollten nur raus da. Wir sahen nur wie Sie nochmals zum Restaurantleiter vom Dienst ging und uns dann mitteilte das die Getränke aufs Haus gehen. Die Servicekraft hat vorbildlich gehandelt und entsprach dem erwarteten Service, das Essen war geschmacklich ebenfalls top, der Umgang seitens des Restaurantleiters mit Gästen, die ein teueres Essen bestellt haben und dies geniessen wollten, mangelhaft, daher nur 3 Punkte für...
