Barrios — Restaurant in Mannheim

Really good cocktails but very unorganised and not educated staff. First of all a guest shouldn't look for you to make a first order, 2nd you shouldn't ignore your guest! We ordered a 2nd drink and after some time(ca.20-30min) we noticed that we're not going to get them, then we remember the stuff that we are waiting quite some time. After another 30min of waiting and looking how the staff is having a good time joking and talking(the table was really close to the bar) it took some time to catch someone to ask about our order, she wasn't our waitress but we're told she'll take care of it. Then after few minutes of arguing with the colleague our waitress come to us and told us something like it's a lot of work today the bartenders didn't saw the order but they are making it now. And indeed they did.We get it after total ca. 1hour and instead apologise we were asked(another waitress)to go because our reservation is expired 30min ago and the people standing there have the reservation(which was a lie because they asked if there is a free table for 5) I've told her that we waited 1hour to get our drinks but she ignored it completely saying that they need a table, I said okay we're just waiting for our friend to come from the toilet, she asked 10min? Then she couldn't find our waitress to bill us😆 There was no apology for waiting, there was nobody interested in serving us or anyone else or at least to ask us if the food was good, do you want...

Great carribean restaurant, centrally located, with a good atmosphere. While on a business trip to BASF SE in Ludwigshafen I met some colleagues for dinner and drinks in Mannheim. The front desk at the Raddisson Blu Mannheim, when queried for suggestions suggested Barrios. To be honest having lived in San Diego, California and Houston, Texas, while curious I was unsure what to expect from a restaurant called "Barrio" in Germany. We were seated quickly. Good selection of beers, wines and spirits. A bit noisy as their were several tables of young college aged patrons out "bar-hopping". As a neo-Vegan who avoids meat and dairy in favor of a whole food plant based diet, I opted for the "gumbo". This was not a Louisiana style gumbo with a dark brown baare, rather a Caribbean style vegetable light curry with snow peas, chickpeas and bell peppers, which although different...

This place is over rated .. You don't find much places around Mannheim, where you have outdoor sitting without really sitting on the road, but here you get to sit under the sky,also inside - kinda place. Drinks and food are super expensive for no reason.. Happy hours offers you mostly ice and water , mostly as less as possible alchohol. The best part, they claim themselves to be a Mexican place, but do not expect any authentic Mexican food e.g Burritos without rice and kidney beans 😄 what a shame.. Be careful what you order , do not assume. They offer some self discovered burriotos within a lot of blunt vegetables and chicken(if you go for the chicken one) ..

Anyway, coming to the ambiance, is the only good part that one can rely on everything else is not worth spending close to €60 to €70 for 2 plates of main course + 2 drinks + 1...
