for starters, the bruscetta (classic and parma version) was ordered. the tomatoes were flavoursome, although a tad mushy. the bruscetta with parma came with grated parmesan, the classic didn't - although this isn't an issue as grated parmesan is available at the table. the bread was well toasted, although a tad fragile. overall, both bruscettas were good.
the al boccocini pizza was ordered. their pizzas have a thin, crispy crust, which has a lovely texture although can make for a delicate pizza base, so even cutting pizza (they don't cut it for you) my cut in into quarters or you'll get 'floppy ends' when you attempt to eat it - leaving to toppings falling off. the toppings themselves were nice, the buffalo mozzarella was moist, and the rocket was crisp. the tomato sauce could've been a bit more flavoured, though. the pizzs al salamino piccante was also nice, greasier than the boccocini though. it wasn't extremely spicy, either. but the base was a bit soggy. the pizza ai frutti di mare was also ordered, and the seafood topping was very nice. all the pizzas were very filling, so we had no room for a dessert unfortunately.
the service was prompt, although there are friendlier places out there. the tables were of good quality, and they gave their windows open...
Read moreThe staff seemed rushed and were unhelpful and unfriendly. They were dismissive of my daughter’s dietary requirements (she’s has celiac disease, can’t eat gluten). We waited ages to be seated, ages to be served, and ages for the food. All of which would be ok if everything else was good.
We had been recommended this place as having gluten free options, but the ONLY gluten free food available was penne with a choice of four sauces: tomatoes, arrabbiata, “vegetarian” or pesto.
No GF pizza and not even the salad on the menu was labelled as GF. The waitress slammed our drinks down on the table, deliberately squashing a fly with one glass as she did so, and then dragging the dead fly off the edge of the table into my daughter’s lap.
The food was fine, but overpriced. The GF pasta was served bare and unappetizing - like a serving of plain pasta for a young child.
Four mains (pizza and pasta only) plus one small mixed side salad and four soft drinks came to €94. I think you’re mainly paying for the central location just off...
Read moreHad been looking for a pizza place for our last night in Munich, having enjoyed pretty heavy traditional fare for the rest of our stay. Having seen this restaurant a few times in passing, and seeing how busy it was, and not wanting to miss out, I looked it up online to see if I could make a booking. It was an option, but only by phone, and I wasn’t confident enough in my German (or Italian as it turned out!) to get the job done. We rocked up at around 19:45, and it was busy. We asked for a table, and there were none outside. We were offered a table inside (and there were loads), but it was far too warm and there was no obvious air conditioning (it had been 30+ degrees all week, only dropping into the high 20s at night). Anyway, an outside table miraculously became available, and we went on to have a lovely meal, at good value and with attentive service (after the original bluff about no...
