Rischart: Café am Markt — Restaurant in Munich

Very bad experience this morning. The service here is so bad. Had to wait 3-5min at the entrance even though there were many free tables and waitresses just passed by without pointing out a table for me (there was a sign “wait to be seated “). Finally, I was taken to a table then pulled out my laptop to join a meeting and waited to order. When the waitress came again, she was very irritated about my laptop. She said that it is not allowed, because this is breakfast time and they have many people coming and they want to free the table ASAP and don’t have time for me to stay 1 hour in the meeting. She pointed out that I only have 30-40min to finish what I have ordered. This treatment definitely makes me never to come back. Even though I talked in German, it didn’t make any difference 😡 Of course I did not leave after 30-40min because I did not finish my breakfast 🤷‍♂️ but I left with a...

The plus side was that the food was good and the atmosphere was great eating underneath St. Peter's church on one side and Viktualienmarkt on the other.

The downside was that the food menu of the cafeteria is limited compared to the shop underneath which we first read. We have then asked and its possible to take a photo of the shop menu and order items from there. So I didn't like the confusion. Service is also slow. Waitress was in a rush with the exception at the end when she wanted a tip. In addition to that I was never given the bill so I could not verify if there was any mistake which I felt being too expensive but yet again there was confusion with ordering items from the shop downstairs.

Other than that the white Bavarian sausage with Pretzel was a good lunch choice accompanied by a good...

Tasty Kaiserschmarrn und coffee, but I really did not appreciate the waitresses behaviour.

I went alone to the cafe as the friend I planned on going with was not feeling well. That aspect seemed to have been a little too overwhelming, although a usual occurrence nowadays.

I arrived well before 12 pm and was first seated at a table with a nice view, where I was not served for roundabout 20 min, as it was, as I was told, meant for fitting 2 persons and not one.

After being seated at a place in the middle, where also 2 persons could be fit, shortly after 12 pm, I was told on placing my order that it was now too late to order breakfast as it was after 12 pm and breakfast was only served until 12 pm.

So, outright rude - maybe something the staff should be advised on for future...
