La Vecchia Masseria — Restaurant in Munich

Summary: A very loud, understaffed place that is not enjoyable, at least when it is busy.

We went there with a group of five people on a Saturday evening. The unpleasant experience already started at the door where we had to wait a good 15 minutes just to get to our reserved(!) table. The place was very packed, and as a result very loud - you almost had to shout to have a normal conversation with the person next to you, let alone having a conversation with people further away. After being seated, we had to wait another 20 minutes until the waiter was ready to take our orders. We had to wait 15 minutes to get our drinks - without wine glasses because they apparently had none left. Our food took quite some time again, and arrived at very different times - the pizza took the longest, about 1.15h (no real apologies for that). I found a small chip of ceramic in my salad (presumably from the bowl), which I only realised after having bitten on it. The waiter hardly apologized at all, and only reluctantly offered to bring me a new salad. The food wasn't that great either, at least not good enough to make up for the unpleasant experience. All in all, you got the impression that they were very understaffed and couldn't handle the amount of people that they squeezed...

Simply wonderful. They have a dine in or take out option and the take out has a more limited selection, but tends to be ~2€ cheaper per an item. The pizza is wonderful and the pasta sublime. The wait staff speak italian to one another and are quite nice and entertaining.

This has quite the authentic taste of Italian food and is so far the best i have found in Germany. Is it the best i have ever had? No. But at the price, location, and the food itself, it is amazing. If you are in the area and wavering over what you should eat for dinner, go here. Even if you are in Marien Platz, i think it is worth the walk.

Ignore the negative reviews, they are all drama queens and dont know what it means to give something 1 star as opposed to 3, which is really what all those reviews should have given for their complaints.

Boxed pasta, old bread, terrible service.

We went yesterday, the pasta clearly came from a box, one of us is a vegetarian and ordered a Penne with Gorgonzola which came with a hidden piece of bacon; and the spaghetti carbonara was all pepper. Half through our dinner we asked for bread as none had been delivered, and the waiter came with a basket of old bread hard as a rock, we asked for a new basket and he squashed one of the buns in front of us to prove it wasn't old ??? He said it wasn't old as it was from midday that day, it was 10pm!! We also had two glasses of white wine, one of the glasses was ok, while the other was clearly the end of a bottle opened days before, based on the advanced state of fermentation which made it undrinkable.
