ALEX Regensburg — Restaurant in Regensburg

Well, whenever we visit a bigger city we go to Alex for the breakfast buffet... because, so far, it was always a great experience with delicious food. As it should be for almost 16€ per person. (Dresden, Berlin, Leipzig...) And, lucky for the chain, i won't let one bad experience change my habit.. because this experience could've done just that. First off, nothing - absolutely not one single thing - was labeled. Because of my past experiences i had a good idea what's what, so it wasn't much of a problem, but a first time visitor would be bewildered. But there were, for instance, 6 different salads but only guesswork as to what they were... besides obviously repurposed leftovers from yesterday. The manager/shift manager was basically friendly with guests, but she was openly hostile and confrontational with the staff, and on the restaurant floor. That's just ineffective management and uncomfortable for everyone. Of all the employees she should be the example, instead of harried, angry and unsmiling. The eggs were cold, not just room temperature, but cold. I thought it might be an isolated incident, so i waited for a fresh tray and tried again. Cold. I'll be back to Alex, but never this one. And it should never have cost so much for such a disappointing experience. I can recommend the chain in general, but as far as Regensburg goes - do yourself a favor and visit one of the many many other...

My family and me went to Alex today (Sunday) after 2:30pm to eat some late lunch. The first impression was “dirty”, but maybe after we sit down the servers come and clean at least the table. Unfortunately, nobody even noticed us. After around 15-20 minutes waitress comes and takes our drinks order. She only comes back with one drink. Then we order the food. The second drink which was “hot white chocolate” came about 25 minutes later. To our surprise, it was just frothed milk with sugar. I also asked for straw for my lemonade and the waitress brought me used straw. I then went and asked for a clean one at the bar. There were no napkins or silverware at the table brought even after the food arrived. But at that point we were already leaving because we had waited for 45 minutes. We paid only for the lemonade and left disappointed. We are not recommending Alex restaurant in Regensburg and are not...

Disappointed: We were on a tour with a couple hours for lunch and we saw this inviting restaurant which had a few people in it. We were promptly sat down and drink orders taken. The drinks came in decent time but the two cheese burgers ordered had not come for 45 mins. The table next to us seemed to be having similar issues. One of their dishes came but the other hadn’t come. I politely inquired if we our order had not been forgotten. After another 10 mins I went and looked in the kitchen galley and saw our order was not even being worked on. So we paid for the drinks and left. Sadly, the table next to us still had not received the second persons dish. I am sure there were issues with staffing as this is certainly no way to run a restaurant. I wish them well.
