Delphi (Gasthof Marktplatz) — Restaurant in Rothenburg ob der Tauber

Ok this was our 5th night here in this stunning town, where we have had two or three lovely meals, but have to say that this was by far the best, and even said to my wife, that this could have been the nicest meal ever, which could be considered a contradiction in itself only I received a meal a didn’t order (or think I didn’t order)! No fault of the waiter really, just we are the average lazy English person that relies heavily on the fact that we think everyone abroad should speak English, well our waiter clearly didn’t, which isn’t a problem or his fault, but add that to my lack of accuracy when pointing on the menu perhaps (old eyes) then it was any ones guess what might turn up at the table. Obviously I couldn’t tell you the name of the meal, but can describe, lamb chop, pork on a skewer, shredded kebab meat, aromatic rice of some sort (it was red) Anyway this meal was fantastic, and most importantly there was plenty of gluten free (frie) options for my wife which was another reason we chose this place. This place is definitely recommended and very reasonable price...

Wir kamen zur Mittagszeit mit 8 Personen und haben spontan einen Platz bekommen. Der Kellner hat uns nach 5 Minuten rumstehen zu den Plätzen geführt und uns die Karten hingeschmissen. Er kam dann wieder zur Bestellungsaufnahme und sah ziemlich gestresst aus, so kam er auch rüber. Er hat mit dem Finger auf die Personen gezeigt und lauter gesagt: „Und du?!". Als er die Getränke gebracht hatte war ein Getränk falsch und wir haben ihn darauf aufmerksam gemacht, er bestand aber darauf das wir es ihm falsch aufgetragen hätten. 15 Minuten nachdem die Vorspeise bereits da war, wurde das Getränk nach 3maligen nachfragen serviert. Als wir dann nach Ketchup gefragt hatten meinte der Kellner er würde es sofort bringen SPOILER: wir bekamen keinen Ketchup mehr. Als wir dann bezahlt haben, haben wir die beiden Kellner darauf aufmerksam gemacht, dass man in der Gastronomie netter, aufrichtiger und organisierter sein sollte. Beim rausgehen wurde uns auf griechisch hinterhergerufen.

Zum Essen: Zur Vorspeise hatten wir gebackene Aubergine und Zucchini, Knoblauchbrot und zu jeder Mahlzeit gab es noch einen Beilagensalat. Das gebackene Gemüse war ganz gut nur etwas unterwürzt. Der Salat war ziemlich klein, aber das Dressing war gut. Das Knoblauchbrot mit Tzatziki war ebenfalls gut. Als Hauptspeise hatten wir Schnitzel Wiener Art, Gyros und Moussaka. Das Moussaka war ok, der Gyros war auch durchschnittlich und die Schnitzel waren katastrophal, abgepackte Tiefkühlware aus dem Supermarkt. Die Pommes ebenfalls ohne ein Salzkorn auf den Teller gelegt.

Fazit: Ich rate stark von diesem Restaurant ab, da die Bedienung maßlos überfordert ist und keinerlei Erfahrung im Thema Gastronomie hat. Essen ist leider auch nicht authentisch griechisch und das „deutsche Essen“ ohne jeglichen Aufwand zubereitet. Und das mit dem Hinterherrufen ist unterste Schublade. It was a nice restaurant. The interior was cool, but not standing out much. The waiter was nice but smelled of cigarettes and coughed fairly often. The food itself was rather good, i recommend ordering the plate with various different meats and fishes to try out everything. At the end the owner wanted to give us shots on the house but we had to decline as we don't drink alcohol, it was still nice and i appreciate it. If i ever visit rottenburg I'll consider visiting the...
