We visited Taj Mahal rothenburg during our day trip from Munich. This is the only Indian restaurant which is available in the old town and hospitality by the gentlemen are good.

I would like to provide a mixed review here.

To start with - Food We had vegetarian items from the menu. The Bombay aloo, bhindi masala, butter naan, Masala parata.

The Bombay aloo was average. It was bit oily. After eating we found the color of the food struck to our hand. Either it is turmeric or food color, requesting to reduce it. In case of food color please avoid it.

The bhindi masala was good in taste with naan and parata.

The bread were good, again bit oily. Can reduce it to an extent. Each gravy is accompanied with sumptuous amount of rice.

Price and Location On price point of view it is little bit expensive- as it is in Tourist location. Does not match Price Performance Ratio.

The location is walkable by foot and it is close to the church.

The food here is simply outstanding. If you’re Indian and missing the taste of home, this place is a must-visit. I’ve traveled to many countries and tried Indian cuisine in countless cities, but the flavors here truly hit home — in fact, it’s better than many places back in India!

The dal makhani deserves a special mention — it tastes just like a proper homemade version, not the usual cream-heavy version you find elsewhere. The tandoori chicken, mutton boti, and kadhai paneer were all perfectly spiced, cooked to perfection, and incredibly satisfying.

I honestly couldn’t have asked for a better Indian food experience during my trip. Highly recommended to anyone craving real, authentic Indian food. This place is a definite hit...

Ausgesprochen schönes Ambiente. Man hat aus einem historischen Gebäude das Mögliche gemacht, um einen schönen authentischen Gastraum zu schaffen.

Auch ohne Reservierung haben wir zu viert um 12:00 Uhr zur Öffnung des Restaurants einen Platz bekommen. Aufgrund der wenigen Tische ist jedoch eine Reservierung wirklich empfehlenswert.

Der Empfang war äußerst freundlich und nett, nicht aufgesetzt, sondern wirklich herzlich.

In der Karte findet man überraschender Weise auch Produkte aus Ente, was ich in indischen Restaurants bisher selten gesehen habe.

Ansonsten gibt es alle üblichen Gerichte in einer absolut hervorragenden Qualität, jedes Gericht ist fein abgestimmt gewürzt. Alle Gemüse und Produkte sind definitiv frisch (keine Dosen-Produkte etc.) . Fleischprodukte sind grundsätzlich perfekt gegart und äußerst schmackhaft. Die Portionsgröße ist entgegen den anderen Rezensionen völlig in Ordnung. Auch der Anteil an Fleisch im Gericht ist korrekt angemessen. Wir waren zu viert am Sonntag 16.4.23 hier essen und waren mit einer Vorspeise absolut gesättigt. Eine Nachspeise, war leider für uns zu viel. Daher kann ich zu den Desserts nichts sagen. Das Thema Getränke ist mir auch aufgefallen, dass diese leicht über dem Rotenburg – Innenstadt – Preisniveau liegen.

Trotzdem bin ich der Meinung, dass bei der Freundlichkeit und dem sehr sehr guten Service (unaufdringlich aber elegant) ein Gesamtpreis von 116 € für vier Essen mit Vorspeise und Getränken absolut angemessen ist für eine Touristen Stadt wie Rothenburg ob der Tauber.

Von unserer Seite her eine ganz eindeutige Empfehlung, wenn man im schönen Ambiente authentisch indische Küche genießen möchte.
