Ratskeller Wiesbaden — Restaurant in Wiesbaden

Old restaurant in a cellar under the town hall (Rathaus) hence Ratskeller. Great for a large portion of sausages or flammkuchen. I hadn't tried the Munchner sausages before which come in boiling water and you have to extricate them from their skins and then dunk them in mustard. They come with a large Bretzel (original pretzel). Beer and wine is reasonably priced, the waitress was welcoming and took our order in english. Easily one of the highlights of a German food / beer hall!!! The beer is very smooth and tasty and it takes control to stop/ slowdown. The staff were very nice and accommodating for a foreigner (Canadian)

I was nervous about ordering the speckflammkuchen, but I will now put all of my effort into attempting this back home!!!

Der Ratskeller befindet sich direkt am Dernschen Gelände. Der Haupteingang liegt mal hier und da. Wenn er hier ist, dann gelandet man über bei den großen Glastüren in den Keller, bei da muss man um die Ecke laufen und gelangt über einen schmalen Eingang in den Keller. Im Gewölbe gibt es viele Sitzmöglichkeiten für zwei oder acht Personen, Bereiche sind zum Teil auch durch Plexiglas-Platten getrennt. Die kleineren Tische sind zwar gemütlich, aber für kräftigere Personen mit Bauch sehr eng und unbequem.

Das Essen ist lecker, bei den alkoholfreien Getränken gibt es max. 0,4l, die meisten werden in 0,33l Flaschen serviert.

Das Fleisch schmeckt sehr gut, die Pommes sind knusprig und nicht versalzen, die Gerichte werden optisch gut angerichtet.

Das Personal ist sehr freundlich, allerdings kommen sie nicht so oft vorbei. Als wir mal zwei Getränke bestellt hatten, kam über eine Stunde niemand mehr vorbei, um zu fragen, ob wir vielleicht noch etwas essen möchten. Das fanden wir schade.
