Ratskeller Wiesbaden — Restaurant in Wiesbaden

Food was alright. Nothing great. We each got the pork knuckle, probably the largest either of us had seen before. The flavor was overwhelmingly salty and much fatties than I have ever had in the past. The real problem was the wait. 5 minutes before drink order. Another 7 minutes before drinks arrived. Another 10-15 minutes before food order was taken. Then another 45 minutes before one of the appetizers arrived. One of the appetizers never came out. Then another 25-30 minutes before the food arrive. All in all around 90 minutes from sit down to food arriving. The place was busy and we were informed the kitchen was 'busy,' however im pretty sure the server forgot to put our order in as other tables who ordered after were finishing or finishing eating by the time we got our food. If it was just the kitchen, then the kitchen isn't prepared to nor able to handle a Saturday evening crowd. I have heard other people I know state they don't go because of the wait times. Food and drinks are okay but services was definitely lacking. I waved at the waiter to order drinks, he waved back cheekily but never came to take orders. After 15mins, I had to get up and went to another waitress to place my order. Der Andechser is located in an area where there's plenty of tourist around and might go to them and they might be earning their money through visitors in Wiesbaden but if they want to survive during this current post Covid difficult economic, they should seriously think about training their service people to be more attentive, polite and have the right mindset to work in the service industry. Avoid this place like the plague. It is the sort of place that just embarrasses Germany... all the tricks that these sort of places try pulling on foreigners to con them, they will try on you here. Order a half duck, but get given a quarter duck instead? Tick. Try not giving an itemised bill, but just a total, in order to avoid the foreigners realising the extent that they're being ripped off? Tick. Add on a large service charge without telling the foreigners? Tick. Don't mention that you've added this large service charge when they give you a tip? Tick. The food is very poor. The helles bier is totally devoid of taste. The so called Dopplebock tastes like bad cola. This sort of place simply shames Germany.
