Exquisite. Ethereal. Wonderful people making and sharing things from the heart. It is one of the absolute joys and privileges in my life to have the pleasure to get to know Sandra and her extended family at L’Art Sucré in Wiesbaden, Germany. The depth and breadth of flavors, consistency, attention to detail - including in their service - didn’t go unnoticed. The word "exquisite" may just fall short of my experience - the the viennoiseries, pâtisserie (l'opera, Sandra) , bean-to-bar chocolate (especially LABRIQ Breton pour moi), petits fours, un café express... and don't forget the macarons. Exquisite. Now for the Ethereal. The thin chocolate wafer perched on top of the finely produced l’Opera. This bite of chocolate will stay with me forever - it delivers exactly the intensity you would expect … but has this unique quality of quietly and subtly fading into the background... quite difficult to explain as it an experience on top of an experience. It’s the result of what I’m sure is years of obsession (the good kind). Very, very, very well executed. I’m gushing. I highly recommend a visit to L’Art Sucré. When you do, take the time to sit and savor - life is short. It’s everything you would expect from a family that cares. This is the very reason why we travel and explore and share what we discover. I’ll miss you Wiesbaden. ...
Read moreZERO stars would be a more appropriate rating for this place due to absolute lack of customer service. I visited the cafe in Frankfurt many times, and although their deserts are overpriced, I like to support local business, especially during the pandemic. This time, I went to the Wiesbaden branch to get some desserts to-go. The guy behind the counter was irritated from the start, and he became increasingly more rude, as I was making my selection. Since some of my family members have food allergies, I wanted to know about the ingredients. The guy said that he didn't know what the desserts are made of, besides sugar, and that I could go elsewhere (Basically he kicked me out?). The older lady (I assume the manager?) came up, berated me, and stated that they do not care about the allergies and they do not disclose what the desserts are made of. This was an absolute bizarre conversation I ever had in a dessert shop. I felt so incredibly unwelcomed and belittled. Obviously, I will never be back, and I will not recommend this place, but I guess they do not care about their customers anyways. So, hopefully, the owner can read this and do some training...
