I was invited to eat at this restaurant many times, so I am confident in saying that if you eat here, then you will be stuffed with amazing food.
The highlights of this place are definitely the generous portion sizes. Whether it be french toast you desire or an omelette, you will receive what you want and THEN some!
Everything was cooked to perfection, and I will sincerely miss the bold flavors of each meal I had, my most favorite one being the blueberry crepe with vanilla sauce. That crepe was the first one I ever had in my life, and it set the bar very high for future ones.
Is the food good enough to sit and relax at the table though? Well...I would suggest to order takeaway, but then that would add on to the long wait time on top of the already long time you'd normally sit through if you just stayed put.
Du & Ich is very popular, and with that popularity comes some downsides, including waiting over a half hour for one plate of food. It doesn't matter what you get, every time I attended this place, I have waited a significantly long time for my food.
It can feel stressful, especially if you were like me and went out to eat with peers that you weren't so close with yet, so you're awkwardly playing on your phone listening to everyone else talk around you. This is even worse when you're a foreigner who doesn't speak German, so you can't even listen in on any hot gossip.
Since I touched on the topic of speaking, I will say that the waiters I had spoke decent English. They were very kind to me, and didn't appear judgmental over me being a foreigner- as I had feared. So, I did feel bad when I got frustrated over the long wait.
Their restaurant is usually packed with customers, so if you want a taste of their food without the anger of having to wait so long, best option is to occupy your time with some good friends, videos on your phone, or read a book.
So again, is the food from Du & Ich good enough to sit and relax at their table? I'd say yes, but please bear with them as they are taking their time for a reason. They have lots of fans in their establishment, and I'm sure you'd become one too once you have a bite of their large,...
Read moreI discovered this place back in the summer, but didn’t write a review then and went again to make sure I wasn’t mistaken. This place is suitable for anyone who loves modern European cuisine and at very decent prices.
Design and atmosphere: I liked the modern, unobtrusive design, lots of wood, deep colors, varied lighting. When we arrived, the room was almost completely occupied, which caused a little noise, but overall I didn’t notice it during the conversation. I would like to add the ability to book tables, at least in the evening, because you want to be sure that there will be a place when you arrive. I also really liked the dishes, a special like for them, maybe I would add some more live plants.
Service: the waitresses were generally friendly and ready to answer any questions, orders were taken and prepared very quickly, this is a definite plus. So if you're looking for a place to grab a quick bite, this is definitely the place.
Food and Drink: The food is generally quite good and the portions are large. I took a bagel and it was incredibly tasty and very filling. I also ordered a bowl, large and generally tasty, but I didn’t like the intrusive and overly sour taste of beets. There is something wrong with the sauce or marinade that needs to be adjusted. The espresso was also great, for a place that doesn't specialize in coffee it was great coffee. In addition, I ordered hot chocolate and pie. I didn’t like that the pie was cloyingly sweet, I have a sweet tooth, but even for me it was too much, like just sugar. And I was not happy with the chocolate, it apparently came from a bag and, like the pie, it was too sweet. I think it’s worth adding real hot chocolate, which will be prepared in your place, and not just filled with water.
But my overall impression is good, I reduced a star only for the very sweet dessert and instant chocolate.
Oh, and if you like beautiful photos from cafes, this place is...
Read moreWe had a great lunch today at this place , as a matter of fact we left this place and went shopping and decided to come back the second time around in one day to have some refreshments. The ambiance is nice , inside the AC was on on a day like this 32 degrees really great . The only thing that’s a bit bothering is that you have almost no phone signal ( In times like these when everyone is just busy staring at they’re phones it’s refreshing to not have to look at your phone because you will for sure get no messages, yet if you’re work is phone related your stay here will be short at least if you sit inside and they have no guest WI-FI).
Service: amazing, friendly always with a smile on her face made our stay great . Thank you for that .
Drinks : coffees were great , Prosecco also super nice and the lemonades refreshing
Food : the eggs Benedict so delicious, a bit to much spinach a bit to less sauce , but this is a personal preference. The veggies super fresh and delicious as well. Omelette also great 👍🏻
A great place to visit when...
