Let me start by saying this : FINALLY! Finally I've found an authentic, budget friendly Chinese small restaurant. It is a family owned restaurant with a cute menu.
If you want to dine in, remember this: The place gets filled pretty fast. Not a place for big groups but highly suggest to takeaway.
The food quality: AMAZING. As an italian, I was impressed with their food quality. Outstanding! Everything I tried was delicious.
My suggestions from the menu since I've tried many items: -the salted soya milk (you get it from the fridge,0.80 cent). -any of their filled buns(0.80 cents each), I highly suggest the red beans ones, the pork buns and the cabbage filled ones. -their fried bread (the long things you see from the photos,0.80 cents) -their soups, any, I tried the braised beef soup.(6 euros ...I mean...you are getting a big bowl filled with amazing broth, beef melting in your mouth, veggies and handmade noodles). -their soup filled dumplings(6 euros)for like 10/12 of them. As all the places you need to know what to order, since I'm not a fun of oily things i didn't love their fried noodles with shrimps(6 euros) cause kinda oily.
What's amazing about the place is the fact that you can choose the type of dumplings you want (either soup filled/fried or dried) and the type of noodles you want (either handmade, or other types I dont remember). I suggest the handmade noodles.
Overall, It's a hidden gem. I'm sorry I had to review it but it's too good to not share it with others. They should open multiple locations across Athens or use delivery apps, maintaining same prices and same authenticity, maybe extending their working hours and learning a bit of English. I see a bright future for this spot....
Read moreHeaded out here early Sunday morning because we saw on Google that they had doujiang/soybean milk - and it was the most PERFECT breakfast I could’ve had. We took a seat outside along the streets (which were still peaceful and quiet) and had the youtiao (fried dough fritters), 豆浆 (soy milk) 豆腐脑 (tofu curd) and 馄饨 (wanton dumplings). Omg …. The fritters were so thin and crispy (my favourite practice is to dip it in the soy milk/some chili oil soup and it soaked up all the flavour and juices), tofu was so soft and silky, and the wanton dumplings were some of the most thin-skinned ones I’ve had in my life (besting several joints I’ve visited on the regular in China). Highly recommend if you’re craving some authentic Chinese food. I’d probably come here for breakfast everyday if I lived in Athens, and the price points for this city are unbelievable. Thank you to the hardworking family for making us such a...
Read moreBest Chinese breakfast? No. HOWEVER, you can order the ENTIRE menu (18 items) for €22 🤯. And that would be enough food for 5-8 people. And it is tasty. Especially liked the xiao long bao, fried meat buns, “various side dish” (delicious homemade pickles) and sweetened soy milk (the cream colored drink in the sealed cups inside the fridge).
🗣️ Lunch menu in English AND Chinese. Breakfast menu ONLY in Chinese. But you can use Google translate’s camera function to figure out roughly what it means. Staff do NOT speak English (I speak a little Chinese).
♿️ very small curb to enter, they have a good fan + AC ❄️, the tables are low and spread apart, and there is a bathroom, but I didn’t look at it.
🥬 🌶️They have 3 vegetarian options (bread, pickles, soy milk, and perhaps one other dish), but they aren’t claiming that anything is veg. And nothing is spicy (except the pickles), but chili oil is provided...
