Athena's Cook - One of the best places to grab a delicious meal served by a friendly staff. Thanks to Georgina, our hostess, who gave us her honest opinion and suggested a fantastic dessert! We even went back the following night! Both nights we sat outdoors, the first night our tables were clean as were the utensils properly placed as our server introduced himself. I ordered the special, lamb chops grilled and served over fries. My wife, a vegetarian, ordered the four cheese ravioli with cream sauce and thyme. The lamb chops, I was told, must be eaten with your hands. So included with the meal were some hearty hand wipes. These were the best lamb chops ever, a nice grilled flavor along with just the right amount of salt to make them super delish! They were tender and juicy and perfectly grilled. Not knowing what to order for dessert, our hostess, Georgina was standing near our table so I asked for her honest opinion. Without hesitation, her favorite, the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. We ordered that and the house baklava! Both were a bit-o-heaven here on earth. The brownie was warm, and the ice cream creamy and so good. The baklava was oozing with honey sweetness. Our second night, we walked up to the hostess station and was greeted by Georgina and a friendly wave of recognition. After a few pleasantries and expressing how much we enjoyed the previous night, Georgina sat us at an outdoor table. This time, my wife ordered the linguini with chicken (yes she's a vegetarian, but when in Greece...). I ordered the chicken souvlaki, but not before asking Georgina for her advice once again. She told me what flavors to expect and once again, the choice did not disappoint. The chicken was served on the skewer, hot, juicy, and tender. A nice grilled flavor with a hint of citrus, delish! It came with a sweet and sour sauce, bread, and home style fries, along with a red cabbage salad garnish. For dessert, the choice again was the chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream. After filling ourselves, we sat, laughed, and enjoyed our evening out. Several of the servers recognized us from the night before and pleasantries were traded between us all Saying goodbye to Georgina, she hoped we would be back soon, but alas, we will not be able to visit Athena's Cook again this trip. We wished her a happy life and said that maybe we'd come back to Greece again soon. If you go, ask for Georgina's recommendation! She's knowledgeable about the food and won't steer you wrong.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate our anniversary, based on its excellent Google reviews and the wide, diverse menu. It was a very important day for us, and we were hoping for a pleasant atmosphere and good food. In terms of the food – we were genuinely satisfied. The dishes were tasty, fresh, and generously portioned. On the culinary side, everything met our expectations. Unfortunately, the overall experience was significantly spoiled by the service, which left us disappointed. Right after we sat down, the waitress asked us whether we preferred sparkling or still water – without first asking if we wanted water at all. We interpreted this as a kind gesture from the restaurant, as it is sometimes customary in hot weather to offer water to guests without charge. We were therefore quite shocked when we received the bill and saw that we had been charged over 5 euros for water we never actually ordered – we simply answered a question about the type, assuming it was a courtesy. After paying for our meal, we stayed at the table for just 4–5 minutes, enjoying the moment and finishing our conversation. During that time, the waitress came outside, saw that we were still sitting, rolled her eyes noticeably, and went back in. This behavior felt unprofessional and frankly quite rude – it made us feel like we were being pushed out. At the very end, we were offered a small dessert “on the house”, which was a kind gesture – even if symbolic it was served with a smile. Sadly, that was not enough to outweigh the cold and unfriendly service we experienced. To sum up: great food, but terrible service. On a day that was meant to be special, we left with a feeling of emotional disappointment – not culinary, but personal.

Great bar for craft beers which are difficult to find in Athens. Spent the evening trying out a couple of stouts. The bartender was cool, he asked me questions on what style of beers I preferred and offered suggestions on what to try out based on those styles. He stuck around talking to me about some of the new breweries in Athens. I know that may not be a big deal but surprisingly having good service can be rare when you are a tourist. Many times on this trip in particular, I would be served my drink or food and then be left alone. Sometimes they don't even bother to ask you how your meal tastes. It was nice change to run into an open and friendly staff at this place. The next day I decided to stop by again and try some local IPAs that my bartender suggested the night before. The next few hours, they had me sample a variety of new beers they had just received for their restaurant. I think I had taste tested at least 5 different bottles. It didn't cost me anything except my opinion on the beers. I spent the rest of the afternoon having fun chatting with them about the beers. My only regret was that I was only there for drinks. The next time I visit Athens, I will make sure I stop by again and have dinner. Fantastic place and extremely friendly staff!

Went here to check out their lunch offering. At 11 AM, you could opt for early lunch or brunch menu. The brunch menu was decent --- it had the usual eggs, omelettes and oats. Standard and friendly continental-type breakfast / brunch options. Saw a number of dishes from the table beside me --- not bad.

The lunch offering had salads, appetizers and mains. All had variety to choose from whether you are looking for a vegetarian or conventional option. I tried the Athena's Chicken which was pretty good. The flavours were reminiscent of the Mediterranean mixed with Arabic / Turkish influence through the spices. It was like soul food. The portion was big and could fill you up till a late dinner past 9. It was worth the price!

There was a good list of wines and cocktails for those looking for a drink with a hit.

They also gave a free dessert that day that was absolutely scrumptious. Supposed to be similar to their brownie dessert. Definitely a must try.

The overall setting and ambiance was upscale resort feel with the wood seats and cushions. Good for those looking for good photo moments.

I would go back and try their dinner seating and menu.

If you are looking for a good introduction to Greek cuisine and mixing this with familiar continental dishes, go here. The price is worth it. The food is good and will be appreciated even by all. To describe it -- the menu is down to earth, dependable...
