Bouloukos Kebab — Restaurant in Athens

I do not like to leave poor reviews and usually move on if the food/experience was below expectations but our lunch here far fell below expectations.

When we ordered a 4 meat platter, the description on the menu clearly indicated that it came with a variety of additional sides such as lettuce, peppers, etc. My family indicated that exact platter but wanted a change in the meat (4 pork instead of 2 pork + 2 chicken).

What we got back was 1 skewer (instead of 2) and a bit more of one type of meat. Additionally, the lettuce and peppers were not present. When my wife approached the waitress about this, she argued and said we had to tell her we wanted those additional sides. Why would we need to inform her if those items were stated clearly as sides on the menu? After several exchanges my wife mentioned to the waitress that she should have asked us whether we wanted those things. The waitress was very argumentative defending that she did nothing wrong.

In an attempt to diffuse the situation, I intervened and was about to say calmly "It's okay, let me just ask if we can have these items added" where I was rudely interrupted by the waitress who said, "No, it's not okay. You do not speak to me." Can you imagine a customer trying to diffuse a situation and the waitress being unprofessional and snapping back when you're trying to calm things down?

Finally, the waitress called the owner who came to calm the situation down. I asked the owner calmly whether the lettuce and peppers were included on the dish. She said yes, they are but we need to tell them. Again, such a bizarre situation that ingredients are stated as part of the dish on the menu, but we need to inform them. Nevertheless, I just said alright, is it possible to get these missing items.

These items were then brought to us and I thought the entire situation was resolved. When the bill came, we were charged an additional 3.5 euros. When we inquired, the owner said that this charge was due to the additional lettuce and peppers we ordered. When we objected and mentioned these were included as part of the dish, she then informed us that she gave us more and that the price was final and she had to run her business.

We paid accordingly and left since we weren't there to cause any issues (this was supposed to be quick lunch) but the above experience was quite poor as any reader can agree. As for the food? I won't lie and say it's the worst (as we came from Santorini and food there was quite bad and more expensive), but the food here was average, pricing on par with everywhere else around the city and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between this restaurant and any other average gyro/kebab joint.

My hope is that the staff takes this as constructive feedback so as to avoid experiences like these for future customers. Firstly, wait staff should be professional - it's basic customer service. Second, if things are listed on the menu and they are optional, please ask. Don't assume people don't want things, especially if they in the dish’s description. Finally, if items are optional and they are to be charged, please inform the customer so they know what to expect. 3.5euro is not a lot of money but it's the principle of the situation - having customers think the items are included only to be...

Dishonest business and super rude waitress and owner. We ordered large plate with 4 mixed meat which means 4 portions meat in total. Per the description it includes tomato, lettuce, spicy peppers. We told waitress we don’t want chicken; this means i should get 2 portion of pork gyro and 2 portion of souvlaki. When the plate arrived we only get 1 souvlaki with a bit of pork gyro. There was no lettuce or pepper on my plate either as it mentioned on the description.

When we talked to waitress, she mentioned they don’t give to customer pepper and lettuce unless the customer ask even it is mentioned on the description. We were never asked what we wanted.

We asked the owner whether we could have the missing lettuce and peppers and were they included. She agreed and brought the missing lettuce and pepper.

When we got the bill, we got charged 3.2 euro additional for the lettuces and pepper which should be part of our plate. (We only ordered 2 items. 10.9euro mixed meat and pork gyro 3euro. Should be total 13.9. But we got the bill for 3 items as total 17euro. The 3.2 euro is for the missing lettuces and pepper. Payment screen shot attached below.

We mentioned this mistake on the bill. The owner got very angry and told us she need to make money and do some business, and she has no time to deal with this. And she told us to pay the full amount and go.

I want to take the photo of the bill, but the owner took the breakdown of the receipt from our table and never returned to us.

The owner knows she not suppose to charge the additional for lettuces and pepper which should be part of the large plate. So she took the receipt to destroy the evidence of the additional charges.

We feel cheated with poor service of the waitress and dishonesty...

I have eaten many times chicken giros pita, but at this place it is much more tasty than other places, where I've been. I recommend to taste a kebab pita too, it was surprising me very positive ways, when I ordered it first time.

And now, when I want to eat any giros (pita) I think most often it is with kebab.

Their zatziki taste really good, it is more salty than some sweet, like many other places has been, which not make it's so tasty than at this place.

Service is great and fast, they treat each one equal, which is very important for me, (if I see some places do not serve like homeless well, I never go that place to buy anything.) This place is good and great, want you eat there or take away. Place is small, but much better than their neighbours.
