What I like:|1. Friendly staff with useful information shared upon checked in eg, Easter weekend holiday with many attraction places close, proactive checking with us if required packed breakfast for a very early morning cruise to Santorini after check out, which metro station to take to airport and port. We were even shared what time our airport train to catch at Monastiraki station after check out to airport.|2. Come with free breakfast|3. Strategic location with 10 min walk to Monastiraki station and 3 min walk to Syntagma station|4. Affordable room price|5. Tv with multiple channels|6. Can see Acropolis at the roof top of this building.||What I dont like:|1. No water kettle to boil water for drinking|2. No free drinking water bottle in the room|3. In our room 202, one power point plug location is under the make up table which is not convenient to charge handphone. Another power point plug location is quite high on the wall which is difficult to charge handphone with no right table height to put the handphone while charging.|4. Weak wifi signal in room 202. We did not have this issue for other rooms stay(room 201 , 603, 604).|3. The free wifi is only provided for 3 devices by default|4. The wifi password is changed every 3 days||Despite the few dislikes, I will still love this hotel and recommend for people to stay...
Read moreThe Economy Hotel in Athens represents to me a successful attempt to create quality in an adverse environment, at a cheap price. The hotel is located in a very central area, only 15-20 minutes walk from the Acropolis and most other attractions. However, the neighborhood is quite rundown, dirty, filled with murales, which may discourage some tourists. There is even a porn rental in front of it, which I found very amusing 🤣 However, the hotel itself is very good. It looks brand new, the rooms are not big but very clean, bed is comfortable (pillow could be softer), bathroom works well, and the "greek-style shower" with curtains is large enough so that you won't flood the bathroom every time. Breakfast is reasonable, with a good selection of salty and sweet options, coffee, cereals, and fruits. Nothing mindblowing, but good enough. Reception is available 24/7 and they are very very helpful, from tips on travelling, tourist attractions, and they even gave us towels to clean ourselves even several hours after our check-out. The only complain I have is that the bathroom door was broken and did not close properly, but I didn't mind too much. For only 30 € per person, breakfast included, I definitely recommend the Economy Hotel. Just be careful about the neighborhood at night and...
Read moreWe spent 5 nights in this hotel in may 2015 and it was the best choice for this price. We got room 506 on the 5th floor with view to Kotzia square and the National Bank. The room was cleaned every day and we got clean towels and beddig. There was LCD TV (6 greek, english CNN and 1 french channel), fridge, air conditioner, hair drier, cupboard and safe but only one power socket in the room (and another one next to the door). There were a sofa and two single beds but these weren't fixed so can be pushed together. The breakfast was perfect with wide selection. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There are 2 elevators. We slept well because there is sound-proof balcoon door. There is a rope on the wall in the bathroom. It is for emergency case for example if you fall in the shower. The area is safe and 3 base locations are in walking distance - Omonia, Syntagma and Monastiraki square. We felt safe day and night in this area. The central market is at the next street. Highly recommended, we would choose this...
