We absolutely loved Brunello. A charming little place serving thoughtfully prepared and truly delicious food. They even made it easy for our seven year old who is a bit of a picky eater by proactively offering off menu items (and modified menu items) for a less adventurous palate. So they deliver on all the critical markers of a lovely dining experience. But I haven't even told you about our server who was an absolute gem: Sotiris. In addition to being an excellent server (like I mentioned above about proactively offering options for our son, but also just genuine, personable, and somehow able to excellently read just how much to involve himself with our table), he is also a trained close up magician. After seeing that we were a little more open to chatting amiably with our waiter, he gently asked, "do you like magic?" Well... We do. He meted out a handful of excellent tricks right in front of us, sprinkling them in like little amuse bouches or palate cleansers throughout our meal. He never made it about him, always creating space for us to interact and enjoy our meal with just our little family, but coming back with a new trick at just the right moment. This restaurant was already a really lovely experience, but Sotiris put it over the top as one of those memories from our Greek trip I'm certain we'll always remember. Thank you, Brunello, and thank...

Brunello in Athens offers a memorable dining experience that combines exquisite food with a romantic atmosphere and attentive service in very reasonable price.

As a starter we got the burrata salad with cherry tomatoes. The burrata was so creamy and delicious!

Among the dishes we tried, the Gnocchi Carbonara was the clear standout. The gnocchi were perfectly pillowy, melting in your mouth. The sauce was rich and flavorful, with just the right balance of creaminess and salty pancetta without being too heavy.

The Beetroot Risotto was delightful. It was earthy and slightly sweet, with a creamy texture that was simply irresistible. The rice was also perfectly cooked.

The Cacio e Pepe with Truffle was equally impressive. This dish was comforting, with the truffle adding a rich, aromatic depth to the already creamy and peppery sauce. The combination was ideal without being overpowering, making it a must-try for any truffle lover.

The restaurant’s atmosphere is perfect for a romantic evening, with soft lighting and elegant decor. The staff were attentive and friendly, adding to the overall experience with their excellent service.

I have a confession. I am not a big fan of Italian food but we went here because it was close to our hotel and it had good reviews. The four of us sat outside on two small tables which were lined up outside the restaurant. It was very atmospheric...fairy lights and foilage and as the restaurant is on a steep hill the tables are almost on different levels, which despite all the tables being lined up next to each other, it felt like you had privacy. The service was excellent. Our waiter was attentive and friendly and the time between courses was excellent. But what totally surprised me was the food. I had yellow tail tataki, followed by shrimp linguine (which had a lobster bisque taste and the shrimps were not shrimps at all but delicious plump prawns) followed by chocolate mouse with popping candy. I was literally blown away. I always think of Italian cuisine as the last type of cuisine I would pay for when out as I can make pizza and pasta easily at home, but after this dinner I am finally converted! They also sell cocktails and I loved the unusual offering (along with the classics!). Hugely recommend. Plus I love this area of Athens!

Our second day in Athens turned into a real treat when we discovered this restaurant—it was the perfect way to start our day. Food: I ordered the spicy salami pizza paired with a glass of Spanish wine—an absolute delight. My daughter enjoyed a pasta dish with cheese, and we both left thoroughly satisfied. Service: The service was exceptional. The staff were not only attentive but genuinely kind and helpful. I later learned that they all speak Spanish—I’ll be sure to use it next time! Atmosphere: The decor is charming and adds so much to the experience. The space felt welcoming and comfortable. While the presence of smoke indoors took some getting used to, it was also part of embracing and appreciating the local culture and lifestyle. Conclusion: This restaurant offers more than just good food—it’s a warm introduction to Athenian hospitality. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a delicious meal in a setting full of character.
