We were looking for a smoke-free space to dine for our final night in the Plaka. The non-smoking indoor area met our needs perfectly. Perikles was our waiter for the evening, and, like the food, he didn't disappoint us. He was helpful with our choices and made good recommendations thatt we thoroughly enjoyed. We started dinner with gigantes plaki (giant beans, sort of like butter beans but larger). They were baked in a light sauce of tomato pieces, diced carrot, olive oil and herbs. So often they are dry from baking, but these were juicy with wonderful flavor, possibly a little garlic and onion completed the recipe, simply delicious. I had the Lamb in a clay pot, once again, simply marvelous and my companion had the grilled octopus with fresh carrots and zucchini on the side. The carrots were sweet and fresh, the best ever. We split a generous slice of homemade apple pie with caramel sauce and whipped cream. The charm and professionalism of Perikles and the freshly-prepared food proved to be one of the best meals of our month long stay in Athens. You don't want to pass by this wonderful find when...
Read moreGot scammed! The waiter asked us to pay before getting us an itemised bill. When we tried to ask for one he kept saying the system wouldnt let him generate an itemised receipt before we paid (we were paying by card). The amount was a lot more than we thought it would be. After we paid, he brought the itemised bill and 3.5 euros in coins because the restaurant "accidentally charged us for a coke we didnt order". The bill was in greek and when I asked the waiter what each item was he kept pointing and naming wrong items and scratching things out to confuse us so that we don't notice that they added things we did not ask for. More than once he named something we didnt order and when i told him, he would start over and skip over some items on the list. We had already paid at this point and we had to leave so we gave up on arguing with him but we definitely got scammed.
For reference, we got one aperol, one beer, one big water, one salad, two gyros and one grilled fish. Should have been around 70 but we got...
Read moreWe had the most incredible food at this location! I am baffled the reviews are under 5 stars. We were in Greece for two weeks, we spent 2 days at the end in Athens and we ate here 5 times.
The first time we got the best caipirinhas we’ve ever had to drink, a Greek salad, a pizza, and a gyro plate for lunch. We then went to a restaurant right by the acropolis for dinner later in the evening and it was so bad we left and went back here for an actual incredible dinner.
We had lunch and dinner and went back for a desert here the next night as well. The waiters were all incredibly kind, helpful, and so funny!
I didn’t have a single item I didn’t like and we tried as much as humanly possible as it was our last Greek meals for the trip.
Thank you all for being so great and welcoming and giving us the best...
