What a place.. We were looking for a place for lunch around Plaka, the waiter started chatting with us and we decided to try it. We haven't had any disappointments before in Athens, even with restaurants that we were just walking into, so we were neutral. Food came very quickly which was a first red flag - both of us we ordered octopus, so we expected it to take some time. I ordered fried squid which was absolutely not eatable, I left half of it as it was so chewy, that I just couldn't finish my plate, I ate only the thin parts that were cooked properly. My bf ordered boiled octopus and also got in it some parts, that shouldn't even be on the plate in the first place. Salad was okay, hard to mess it up tho. When I went to pay I realised why is it like this - food is just being kept in metal containers on a heater, it's not being prepared fresh for each order. Super disappointing, it was one of the most expensive lunches that we had (we paid 46,40 euros) and eventually we had to go to some other place to eat properly. Don't go there!

While there is nothing wrong for this property to cater to tourists (after all it's in the middle of Plaka), the food is just not up to par, and the quality definitely is no where lived up near what some internet "review" sites' hype. All the dishes came out luke warm, I guess probably mass produced in the kitchen in batches and kept somewhat warm with heat lamp or water bath. The fried smelts tasted fishy, my moussaka tasted stale, the greek salad was pretty pathetic also (too sour). I mean how can you messed up making greek salad (in Greece no less)? The wait staff was unattentive and slow to respond. Only the tout was enthusiastically doing sales pitch to bring in more patrons. I gotta remember not be break my own rule to not go to any restaurants using touts to bring in customers. Overall, not an enjoyable experience. Will not return for sure.

We were out looking for breakfast in the otherwise cool morning in Athens when we came across this taverna. It is in the perfect location, and even though it was 9-10 degrees, we were perfectly sheltered from the wind and cold and warmed by the sun that shone directly on us. A gem if you are out in the morning and want to enjoy some warmth in the fall. The food was good, the service was great and we had great morning hours here. We tried the eggs and bacon breakfast and they were also willing to make scrambled eggs instead of fried eggs as one of our party was not very fond of fried eggs. Forgot to take picture of our food, but i got the view of the sun

AVOID THIS PLACE

A very unpleasant situation happened to us while on vacation. When it came time to pay (after already waiting 15 minutes for the bill, even after reminding them), the clueless waiter asked if we would pay by card or cash. I handed him €50. The total was €30.80, and he asked if we had €1. He then gave us only €0.20 back.

We told him he still owed us €20, but instead of returning it, he asked me to hand him €10 from my wallet. We ended up giving him €61, and later he returned only €10, trying to convince us that he had already given me the €20 earlier.

It was a clear attempt to scam tourists from another country. On top of that, the food was not good at all. Avoid this place — the waiter, with his foolish look, couldn’t even hide that he was simply trying to cheat us. Definitely not recommended.

Edit: My account is obviously not fake – it has been active for years, unlike what the owner tries to suggest. And about me not writing reviews before… well, maybe that’s because I never had such a ridiculous situation in any restaurant until now, where someone actually tried to cheat me on the bill. Congratulations, you managed to be the first – that’s exactly why people...

Is our first day in Athens. We went there in a recommendation from a tour guide Ektor whom was recommending the shops and all along the tour. And when we were going to walk to another place for food. The tour guide mentioned we should still try the food here so we hesitated and went here. I guess it was really a trap. The price is slightly more expensive by local standards which reasonable as it is in a tourist area. But what makes us so disappointed was that the food was not good. Imagine I had better flavoured greek food in Singapore. The optupus croquettes was so hard and cold it seems refried. The staff was politely asking us but did nothing when we told him it was very bad. He did not take if off the bill but he did offered us ice cream on the house to compensate which we declined .We went to another place to order the same dish again to verify the taste and we were NOT wrong. It was not supposed to be so hard and cold! The rest of the food was not good also. I recommend better places for sure with better...
