This was by far the best we have had in Athens so far. This family run place is perfectly positioned walking between the Acropolis and the Agora. There are so many options, but my husband I decided to venture down this small side road off the main walk to get away from the “picture menus”. We ordered the tzatziki, pita, the fresh Idylis salad with pomegranate seeds and a spinach pie- it was all amazing and very substantial portions. The beer was nice and cold. You can tell this place has regular customers because they walk right in without even looking at the menu. They provided water to us straight away-The food was excellent- our server was super kind and helpful with recommendations, the atmosphere was set with Greek music and it was shaded with a breeze. Read moreWell when I see a place with this many reviews still sporting 4.9 stars, I just go. And it is worth its rating! The staff is super helpful and attentive, the food is delicious and the portions are perfect. We shared the Idyll salad, fried cheese, chicken souvlaki (so lovely it was obviously brined to attain this moisture and flavor), Mousaka (top notch), they brought us out free dessert and mastiko liqueur at the end. I would describe the food as very true to the taverna spirit and creative at the same time: the tomato croquettes, which I found amazing (tomato sweet and sour, buttery from the batter...🤯) are a great example of this, as is the Dakos salad. The day I came, they had a lamb special for lunch: I had to ask the chef for the recipe...Overall, I found the staff thoughtful and attentive, yet not overbearing in the least. I also thought that the decor with its choice of colours (earthy red and maroon) and the ambiance exude a lot of warmth.
Shout out to Babis and his father Christos who...
