I wish I had a better review, the food was excellent but the service was absolutely horrible and being that I’m a person of color made this just the first of many terrible experiences I had in Athens. When I arrived I asked one of the wait staff for a table and was told I could sit anywhere. I choose a table that was partially shaded however within minutes the sun had come back out and made it a bit unbearable to sit there and enjoy myself. I asked one of the wait staff if I could be moved to a shadier area or maybe get an umbrella and he just shrugged and told me I could move myself when a table opened up.
5-7 minutes later two new parties came and 3 new tables were added , one with an umbrella and 2 other spots placed in the shade. I tried to get the attention of the waitstaff for help moving my items to one of the available tables but I was ignored throughly after they bought my food out and no one followed up to see if I was ok or even pleased with my order. So I sat basking in the hot sun, watching 3 other European parties get seated and accommodated for the heat. No one ever followed up with me and eventually had to actively catch eyes with an waiter just to pay and finally leave. I left afterwards exhausted and quite hurt that in 2022 I’d still need to deal with this underlying racism and sadly this was just my first experience of the day and...

Ontop of all of that we were still expected to pay for our meal, except for the dish were the broken plate was found. That is ridiculous and insulting, considering we now have medical fees to worry about because a greedy, selfish and careless owner was too CHEAP to replace broken plates!
We are honestly considering...
Read moreThe historic café of Kolonaki, where once Kazantzakis, and Varnalis used to gather at its tables, is located on the pedestrian street outside the Dexameni open-air cinema. Papadiamantis referred to it as a "nipiagogio-bar-girokomio" and this description is noted in its catalogs and the t-shirts of the employees. They serve coffee from early in the morning, followed by ouzo and tsipouro with later appetizers. The appetizers range from 5-6€ each, which is quite reasonable considering the prices in Kolonaki, and the portion sizes are satisfying for their price. On weekends, there is an endless queue to find a seat. The service has its ups and downs. Make sure to try the semolina halva with ice cream;...
