My wife found this a block from Ermou street when searching for "sugar free". We didn't know we'd find anything like this in Athens, and because we can't have sugar - this place was an incredible find! First - they have a great selection of ice creams, which you can get in a cone, cup, waffle bowl, or even a milkshake. I opted for the milkshake several times with both the Banoffe (Banana Coffe) and Pistacio flavors. They also have great cinnamon rolls (try the apple too) and many other things. The thing we were able to get here we never found anywhere else was the sugar free Baklava (pictured). For years we were not able to eat Baklava because of the sugar, and this was an incredible find! Once we got back to our hotel and tried it, we were just blown away at how good it was! Quality was very high, service was great, and while I've seen many comments saying the prices were a little higher, we didn't feel that way at all. You would pay much more for sugar free in the U.S. (and the food wouldn't be nearly as good). If you need sugar free while in Athens - be...
Read moreAfter a delicious street food meal, time for vegan desert and coffee! Found Sugar Killer, a vegan and sugar free gelato stand with an amazing spread. I had an espresso, she had a cappuccino, we shared a cup of the bitter dark chocolate spicy soft ice cream. This was just perfect! The ice cream had a deep rich chocolate flavor with a nice light kick that sets in after the bite is gone. The coffee was high quality and prepared perfectly, adding non-sugar sweetener per your request. Perfect way to end a long day and transition to a cool Athens night. Better than Wesley Crushers best banana split! They feature jarred cheesecake deserts, fruit and acai bowls, all of which I’m trying before returning to Star Base. We received fantastic service with a smile and the open air corner dining area keeps you right in the action of the hustle and bustle of the city center. Thanks for the sweet (and...
Read moreAfter dinner we went walking to explore the wonderful Plaka area. As we walked we came across this shop called Sugar Killer. Curiosity crept in so I had to go in. I could clearly see it was an ice cream shop. Being vegan, I thought, maybe they have a few vegan sorbets. Little did I know that the whole place was vegan and sugar free!
I was like a kid in a candy store. They had all sorts of amazing flavors of coconut cream and milk based frozen desserts, made with stevia and agave. It was literally a plant-based person's sweet heaven! We will certainly be going back.
I got the tiramisu, my wife got the cinnamon and my son the hazel nut.
All of them were amazing!
If you are a vegan, and love dessert, you MUST try this place. Must!
We have been back at least 3 times. I try something new each...
