This review is long overdue. On July 22, My daughter and I visited Vegan Beats on one of the hottest recorded days for Athens in 2025. Co-owner Alexandros helped to quell our indecision with the suggestion of sharing, in traditional Greek fashion, the burger and the pita, both which he kindly quartered. We took our first bites of the seitan burger with much reservation and hesitation, and seconds later we could hardly stop chowing down because the burger was so uniquely and mind-boggling delicious. Instead of the culinary battle many chef’s create when combing savory and naturally sweet, Alessandros and Vasiliki (Alessandro’s sister and co-owner of whom he spoke highly) skillfully mastered the art of “delicate balanced,” and served us a dream burger. Anyone observing us eat would never guess that my daughter is not a fan of seitan, that I am not a fan of “red cabbage (or any cabbage) on a burger, or that we both snub our noses at vegan cheese. With every bite of the burger, all preconceived ideas and previous tastes became a distant memory.

The “buttery” bun was perfectly toasted; the seitan was effortlessly, if deceivingly, a burger doppelgänger; the cheese was absolutely scrumptiously non-offensive; and the red cabbage stole the show. My daughter and I had completely lost our words— and our manners… lol. Other than a lot of lip-smacking and finger-licking, our table became as silent as “a mouse pissing on cotton” (colorful saying of one of my spicier aunties).

And let’s not forget about the gyro-pita— although we almost did!!… lol. As if aware it had instantly become an underdog, it sat on our community plate, patiently waiting to be tasted. Eventually, and with great effort, my daughter and I pulled ourselves from our respective burger portions to give the pita a go, and we did so with not the remotest expectation that the burger could be topped, but at first bite of the gyro pita, the burger became a “has been.” 😳

Somehow, Vegan Beats bested its own perfection and unwittingly presented us with the impossibility of using mere language to describe an ethereal experience. I wish I could deliver in words what Alessandro and Vasiliki delivered on the palate. With a gaggle of tantalizing textures and a mesmerizing medley of the most iconic Greek flavors, these two talented chefs and the entire Vegan Beats team put a lot of meticulous effort into developing a glorious plant based gyro experience— marinated mushrooms, perfectly textured onions— all the good stuff that makes a gyro magnificence.

Alessandros, Vasiliki and the entire Vegan Beats team clearly care about customer preferences, customer service, animal protection, and the planet. They have unearthed an inimitable nuance that hits deep, stays long and makes you want to return to again and again. Even sweeter, with every dish served, they demonstrate gratitude for their customers, value of generational traditions, pride in their country, and an uncanny, hard earned knack for preparing artisan, plant based food. Simply put the Vegan Beats team knows how to treat customers with and finesse plants into… dare I say love??…Yes, yes— I do!

Yasas Alessandro, Vasiliki & the entire Began Beats team—...

Incredible vegan street food! After arriving in Athens City Center from a neighboring island, I had three days worth of party time under my belt, and it wasn’t sythohol if you know what I’m saying.

First thing I needed was something substantial, something fast, something that would help soak up the aftermath of all the fun I had. I craved a spicy minced Arabic pie, (something I’d never actually even had), and a gyros sandwich. I Googled vegan food, walked 5 minutes and found exactly what I was looking for!

The lahmajoun is a crispy, flaky crust pie with the most incredible, spicy, flavorful minced soy filling. Reminiscent of Cardassian chorizo, spicy and smooth with just the perfect balance of onions and hummus. Boom!

The space gyros sandwich was delicious as well, with a perfectly baked mushroom base, carnalities onions, cabbage, and their delicious beet house bbq. Forget about it!!!

Top it off with a spiral cut skewered potato perfectly lightly fried drizzled with sauce and a couple of beers. I’m done. They did it! Belly full, comfort consumes me, party on.

These folks were super friendly, very helpful and proud of their product, as well they should be. The environment is clean and bright, dining on the porch out back for people watching made for a gorgeous late lunch.

Stop by immediately when it’s time for that street food fix, you won’t find...

It was our first time in Athens and we looked for something where we could get greek food but in vegan and we found the perfect place! The Staff was really kind and helpful :) The Food is AMAZING! We've been there 4 times and our favourite was the gyros and the cauliflower nuggets (in a burger and salad). You should definitely try the kombucha. They also recognised us the third time we were visiting and gave us a delicious dessert on the house♡ My favourite part is, that as a vegan, I don't have to be careful what to order, I can just go for everything that sounds good to me. The tables were always clean and sweetly decorated. There was also a pigeon, which had a hard time walking(we named it timmy), the staff fed him and also made sure that he got the food, because other healthy pigeons wanted to steal from him and scurry him away:(. So Plus points for their kindness towards timmy aswell. All in All we had a great Time and would recommend Vegan Beat to everyone, who's...
