Too expensive for what they offer, seafood Portions are small (layer of salad hidden under the cone), salt in their food burns the mouth you will need plenty of water after your meal. Offensive guy taking orders behind the bench, No mood to serve, reminiscent of banker behavior. We were told it was "shop policy" that (strategically) forces customers to pay for their order Before sitting on a table and forbids customers to eat with a real fork and drink with a real glass, only with more elevated prices (..One finds this out After they have already paid). After you pay, on the way to the table they instruct you to sit in a standing position almost. They give out fake looking plastic glasses and forks for the client to enjoy a tiny portion of expensive sea food and they tell you that if you want to sit down or use a real glass, you have to pay extra and that the portions at the table are a little smaller. All the above is realised / discovered later after one has paid his order and before sitting down on a table. It works like a bank. Staff was purely a trap experience. Bon appetite
Read moreUp until a few years ago, your main options for getting something to eat in the city centre were souvlaki and pies, or the more westernized sandwich shops. This little place makes a huge difference by offering tasty small fish and sea food in cones, layered on top of pickled carrots and shredded cabbage. One cone is a full meal, as far as I'm concerned. If you wish to have just a quick cone, you're invited to sit at small bar-like surfaces outdoors, but if you want a full meal with more menu options, you can sit indoors or outdoors at a table. The outdoors is slightly more inconvenient as the street is very small and the aroma of your food blends in with the exhaust fumes from incoming traffic. Also, the constant bumping from people passing by takes out from the experience. Should you decide to sit at a table, I thoroughly recommend the split pea puree with caramelised onions (it's erroneously listed as 'split beans' in the menu, so just ask for 'fava') and asking for the day special. We had fish fillet fricassee, which was out of this world. The spelt was crunchy and thankfully no oil was dripping from it, but the calamari was not up to par. Tasted like rubber and gave me a stomach ache. This will not deter me from trying other dishes, though, in the future. We did not visit the toilets so I cannot attest to their cleanliness, but the rest of the shop seemed spotless, so that's a plus too. Finally, I'm not sure how I feel about it, but bread - the staple of every traditional Greek meal - was only offered if you asked for it. For an additional price, not as part of the normal couvert when you sit at a restaurant here. Mind you though, it...
Read moreWe loved our experience regarding food at zisis restaurant, we ordered shrimp saganaki, sea bass, fava with caramelized onions, fried calamari, cod strips, fresh fries & a greek salad for two people. We paid in total 70 something euros ( I don’t recall the exact amount as my husband paid. ) The food was delicious, and the service was quite friendly. The only downside for us was the noise and the people passing behind us and in front of us as we were eating ( we chose the table outside ), so we were also aware of our personal belongings with all these people coming and going that’s why the 3 stars on the atmosphere. Also the tables were quite small and limited so when you order the stuff we did they will have to bring you a second table! Also there was no salt, black pepper, olive oil & napkins on the table as it should for a greek tavern. ( We had to ask for them )
Overall the experience was pleasant! Please keep in mind that’s our personal experience and it might not be yours, however from a seafood lover to another I recommend you try...
