Well, here I am at "This is Loco" in Athens, and let me tell you, this place is like a passport to the heart of Australian cafe culture. The moment I walked in, I could practically hear the sounds of Melbourne's laneways and Sydney's beachfronts whispering through the air.
The venue, it's effortlessly cool. You've got that laid-back vibe that screams "come as you are" and a decor that makes you want to snap an Instagram pic from every angle. It's like they airlifted a slice of Down Under and plopped it right here in Athens.
Now, let's talk about the staff. Attentive doesn't even begin to cover it. These folks are so on point, they might as well be mind readers. Case in point: I accidentally ordered a cappuccino instead of the iced one I actually wanted. No sweat – they whisked it away and replaced it with an iced cappuccino without missing a beat. It's like they knew what I needed before I did.
But enough about the beverages, let's dive into the grub. The quesadilla – a flavor explosion wrapped in a tortilla. It's like a culinary fiesta with each bite, the kind that makes you want to do a little happy dance right there in your seat. And those fries? Crisp, golden, and begging to be dipped in whatever saucy concoction they've dreamed up.
And let's not forget the yogurt bowl. It's not your typical bowl of plain ol' yogurt. No, this is a masterpiece. Creamy, dreamy, and loaded with all the toppings that make mornings worth waking up for. It's like a morning hug from a Mediterranean goddess.
So, there you have it – "This is Loco" in Athens. A slice of Aussie heaven with staff that read your mind, quesadillas that dance on your taste buds, and yogurt bowls that'll make you question every other breakfast you've ever had. It's a taste of two worlds colliding, and let me tell you, it's one heck of a...
Read moreFor a place with such a high rating, decor, and so many customers, I was not very impressed to be honest. It seems this is the busiest point which may have contributed to issues.
Immediately there are almost no tables, but I manage to find a two seat one upstairs. Server takes a bit to come, but I was like eh it's busy. They come and I am then asked if I am okay to move to a long shared table so a group of four can use mine to combine with another. Okay, bit weird, but that's okay. I wouldn't have minded much but then it seemed they preferenced service to the group, serving them first despite me waiting a little longer.
Says free wifi, but I couldn't get in with the listed password. The aircon is apparently on, but the huge doors are all open so it feels just as hot if not hotter than outside. They bring water with a cup fresh out the dishwasher and hot to the touch.
Then my food arrives. I got the maple pancakes with bacon and a cappuccino freddo with sugar. The theme of this meal and be summarised in two words: bitter and salty. The coffee didn't seem to have sugar in it, and still tasted kind of bad with the sugar syrup I had to ask for. The pancakes had a tiny bit of maple syrup, and you have to pay for a reasonable amount. The photo shows three pancakes: only got two. The bacon and pancakes taste a little odd, and the whipped butter (I think) tastes bitter and salty.
They are also blasting awful music and it is very loud with a full house. I would not recommend and will not...
Read moreBreakfast burrito was probably one of the best i’ve ever had! Ate there twice during my time visiting athens, first time i was sat downstairs in the main area and the service was impeccable and the food and coffee was amazing! Second time round I sat upstairs and waited so long I thought they forgot about me so had to go down stairs to ask if i could order, the server was nonchalant as they took my order but i guess i was the only one sitting upstairs so easily forgettable. Food and coffee was again amazing so no issues there, all in all really great place to eat and the workers are 95% of the time super friendly and approachable! I wish i visited during an evening as i assume it could be a great and laidback atmosphere for a...
