Aiming to have a pre-cinema dinner, we were intrigued by Thissio View in Athens - an eatery with the promise of majestic views and an intimate dining experience. Or so we thought.

The location certainly didn't disappoint. Boasting views of the Parthenon that made our hearts skip a beat, it's a veritable photographer's paradise. Yet, this also meant frequent close encounters with enthusiastic, camera-wielding passersby, invading our dining space to capture the perfect shot.

The cocktails attempted to mimic the views' grandeur but ended up being more like sweetened sirops in disguise (at least these 2 we tried: Sin-Sin and Cucumber delight), with a generous price tag and a ghost of alcohol that never quite showed up.

The food? A dining experience worthy of a Spartan military camp. Uninspired, austere, and seemingly prepared with a strange disregard for taste.

Amidst this gastronomical chaos, the waiting staff remained as the unsung heroes. Polite and apologetic, they navigated our growing disappointment with as much grace as possible, even if their competencies didn't quite match their kindness.

In summary, Thissio View is a place for those hungry for panoramic views and a taste of Spartan simplicity. For a truly satiating meal, however, the labyrinthine streets of Athens have much more to offer. At Thissio View, the name says it all - it's the view, not the food, you're there for.
