An Unforgettable Rooftop Dinner Experience at Athens Hill
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5)
(13/05/2023)Yesterday I had the pleasure of dining at Athens Hill for a rooftop dinner experience with my partner, and it exceeded all our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we knew we had made the perfect choice for our special evening.
The atmosphere at Athens Hill is simply amazing. As we ascended to the rooftop, we were greeted by breathtaking views of the cityscape. The soft glow of string lights and the warm ambiance created an intimate and romantic setting, perfectly in line with the theme of our evening. It was truly a captivating environment that immediately set the tone for a memorable night.
The food at Athens Hill is nothing short of spectacular. We started our culinary journey with the Handmade Bread served with Olive Oil and Salt, and to enhance the experience, we opted for the addition of the white taramas. The combination was simply divine, with the bread being perfectly crusty on the outside and soft on the inside, and the taramas adding a creamy and flavorful touch that delighted our taste buds.
For our main course, we decided to indulge in the Octopus and Lamb accompanied by a glass of Vissa wine. The dishes surpassed our expectations in every way. The octopus was tender, cooked to perfection, and bursting with flavor. The lamb was succulent and paired wonderfully with the Vissa wine, creating a harmonious symphony of tastes that left us wanting more.
To conclude our exceptional dinner, we selected the Tiramisu and Yogurt with White Chocolate. The desserts were a true grand finale to our culinary adventure. The Tiramisu was rich and velvety, with layers of coffee-soaked ladyfingers and creamy mascarpone, while the Yogurt with White Chocolate offered a refreshing and decadent contrast. It was the perfect ending to a flawless dining experience.
What truly sets Athens Hill apart is its remarkable staff, particularly the floor manager and the entire team. Their attentiveness, knowledge, and genuine passion for providing exceptional service were evident throughout the evening. They anticipated our needs, guided us through the menu, and ensured that every aspect of our dining experience was flawless. Their professionalism and warm hospitality added an extra layer of enjoyment to our evening.
In conclusion, Athens Hill exceeded all our expectations and provided us with an unforgettable rooftop dinner experience. The captivating atmosphere, outstanding food, and impeccable service combined to create a truly magical evening. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for an extraordinary dining experience, Athens Hill is the perfect destination. We highly recommend it to anyone seeking a culinary adventure in a...
Read moreGood food and exceptional views from the rooftop, but service was not attentive and at times quite clumsy.
I made a reservation for two persons at 20:00 on a Saturday evening. We were running late so I called to inform staff of this. They were initially very accomodating and kindly moved us to a better table and view, when one became available. Unfortunately the rest of service was clumsy.
Our first waiter forgot to provide menus, so another one offered them to us. Then, when it came to ordering, we received multiple approaches from different servers.
Appetisers and mains came quickly, however, later in the evening we ordered dessert and requested the wine list. The dessert took 40 minutes to arrive and one of them was incorrect. A few minutes later the correct dessert arrived but without a spoon! The wine list was forgotten and our attempts to flag a waiter went unnoticed. Additionally, water refills were never offered. We requested that our glasses be refilled and the server used the last drips of one open bottle and did not bother to come back to finish.
As the evening went on the venue became quite busy - but there were 5 waiters on the floor which should've been plenty. Most of the waiters, including the manager, seemed to be focused on a large table of American tourists who were consuming lots of alcohol. The manager seemed to egg on their obnoxious behavour and other tables were a secondary thought. One couple waited even longer for their mains than we waited for dessert - they weren't happy and left shortly after finishing their plates.
I'd forgive all of this and rate 3/4 star but for one last omission. When booking you are asked if it is a special occasion and I stated that it would be my wife's birthday. I expected a cake/candle/wine or song before or for dessert. I thought this was why dessert was taking so long to arrive. However, no celebration or gift arrived. Then, a cake, candle and song appeared for the American table in the middle 🤦🏽♂️
It took another 25 mins to receive and settle the bill. We spent approx €120, no tip, which is very reasonable. We were planning on spending double that on additional drinks and tip but...
Read moreOverall, this was unfortunately our worst dining experience in our 3 day stay at Athens. Before providing any constructive criticism, I will mention the dishes we received tasted good and were visually fantastic however that was the only bright spot in an otherwise sad experience. Right after we entered, we found the service to be very very slow. Once we did get someone to attend us, we wanted to order 3 items off the menu and our waiter compelled us to get some appetizers and drinks which we really did not want to order. He asked us to order all the food at once. We wanted to get 3 items of the menu since that was how hungry we were. He then became unhappy and rudely said that we made a reservation for 3 people and need to order more items off the menu. We had to repeat our order a few times to tell him this is what we want because he kept asking us to get more. We politely said we will order more later depending on how hungry we feel. I will agree with some of the previously mentioned reviews where they forcefully sell and make you order more than what you prefer. Once they learned we are only ordering a handful of dishes our experience became bad. We noticed them chatting amongst themselves about our table. Throughout the dinner we noticed all other tables being tended to very regularly and we weren't even approached once for even a water top up. At the end another new waiter came to us. When we mentioned the food tasted good, the waiter laughed at us and said we didnt eat anything, handed the bill and the credit card machine to us without inputting our bill amount and walked away. We had to figure out how to operate the machine in Greek and noticed we were charged an extra 9 EUR for some item. We were unable to ask for help and neither were we provided any. Maybe if someone was willing to help us we could have clarified the extra charge. At this point we were upset so we paid our bill left the machine and the table. In terms of pricing- it is expensive and if the service was better can be justified but we found the people working very cold and...
