We ended up here coincidentally on our first day in Athens before embarking for several islands in the Aegean. We sure did make that same stop on our way back a week later. Could not have made better use of the time between ferry and airport. Come here if you want to get in touch with the locals dining in this rusty side street of Athens’ central market. You’ll receive recommendations on the best beaches around Naxos, hear about the favourite island they went to as kids, will be forced to try the dish they just ordered just to know if you want to order it, too. just as you will be forced to make them figure out where you’re from so they will be able to pull out the few words they remember in your native language. Ridiculously kind people, staff and guests alike. Fantastic food. 500ml Rosé for 2,50€....

Asked about a great, no-frills, authentic Greek restaurant and was provided with this one. The recommendation was spot on, as the food was delicious and the service phenomenal. When we arrived, the place was packed, but the servers were very accommodating and found us a place inside like my wife wanted. We ordered the fried cod with mashed potatoes, meatballs, zucchini balls with spicy feta spread, and stuffed peppers. Everything was seasoned and cooked perfectly. It's a very small and cute restaurant (meyhane). It is a bit far from the center. Seating is limited and you have to sit in small chairs, which are uncomfortable. While this situation reduces sitting time and quality, the taste of the food certainly compensates it. Prices are quite reasonable and the food is quite tasty. We tried the fish with garlic sauce (special for the independence day), feta cheese and a few appetizers (meze). Homemade ouzo is reasonable in price but not very good. We paid 17 euros for all.
