As someone working in hospitality, I understand the complexity of this profession and the challenges that come with it. I always try to approach dining experiences with empathy and fairness. Unfortunately, my visit to Pomo de Oro left me disappointed — both as a guest and as a fellow professional.
The starter was noticeably underseasoned and lacked character. The main course — while the pasta was well-cooked — did not resemble what was described on the menu. It included only a few grams of octopus, and lacked the promised lemon confit, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, raisins, sunflower seed and smoke broth. For €28, the dish simply did not deliver — neither in execution nor in value.
When I respectfully shared my feedback, the chef came to the table. He was calm and composed, but offered no apology or real explanation — only a brief statement that “this is how it's done on Corfu.” While that may reflect a local interpretation, it did not align with the description or the price point.
To be fair, dessert was offered as a gesture of goodwill, but we chose not to accept it, as the experience had already left a strong impression — and not a positive one.
We paid in full, as agreed. The issue here is not the cost — it's the principle. When a guest, especially one from the same industry, offers polite and constructive feedback, it should be met with openness, not dismissal.
This review is written with professionalism, not resentment. It’s a reminder that hospitality is not just about the food — it’s about how we listen,...
Read moreWe visited the restaurant following reviews, suggestions and the Chef”s presence in master chef. The location is nice at a beautiful square in city centre but simultaneously away from the crowded and noisy city of corfu. The staff is polite and the service was good in general. We felt a rush to take the empty plates from the table immediately . regarding the food there are positive and negative comments. Bread, amusebouse salad KERKYRA and the τηγανίτες were good. The olive oil was excellent. From main courses we had the kings ravioli with lobster, , the Sunday ravioli with lamp the beef and the short fish with peers. The kings και dish with the fish were below average. There was no balance no taste the peers were boiled not smoked the mushrooms in ravioli dish was so strong covering the lobster. In general and most important those two dishes were not at all tasty. The other two dishes were good but not something extraordinary There were 3 deserts in the menu they inform us that the third was not available ( apricot crème etc) not when the gave us the menu but when they received the order. We took the othe two the chocolate semifredo was good the ballerina ( pavlova like) was average. The funny story is when we were leaving the 3rd desert was served in another table. It is the first time in my life that I am so disappointed with a restaurant of such level and I have been in many fine dining restaurants in...
Read moreWorst restaurant we went to in Corfu. Unfortunately, it was my birthday and they certainly spoilt my otherwise amazing day. We sat inside as it was so hot outside, so thought being inside with AC would be a good idea…only to find out it was 30C inside! Ridiculous! Asked to lower the temperature, but they just shrugged their shoulders.
Then they made us wait 45 mins for the starters and another 45 mins for the mains. I was livid! It felt even longer in that swealtering place.
I was just about to leave, when the food arrived. It was just ok, certainly nothing worth waiting 1.5h for. The menu was really underwhelming, though the food was better than what the menu suggested.
My husband had arranged a dessert to sing happy birthday, but I was so upset that I just left. I wasn’t going to wait another half an hour for dessert. Really unacceptable service, even for Greece. Also, they knew it was my birthday as my husband had told them and not a single person congratulated me at all (this had never ever happened anywhere in the world).
And the wine was just awful. Well, to be honest, all greek wine was subpar. Some of the worst wine I have ever tasted.
I really regret going to this place so much. Avoid like the plague. So many nicer places to go to in Corfu. They truly ruined my birthday and I left...
