What a shame, as the food itself was AMAZING. I normally don't do this, but this time I have to write such feedback. I ordered falafel portion and a bottle of water. Falafel portion was 14€, bottle of water 3€. Yet, I was asked to pay 21€. How is that so? After I ordered, a lady brought me a bit of pita bread with hummus, and said, which is very important - "this is from the restaurant, enjoy". What a nice gesture, I thought... I've eaten in this place for a few times in the past, I noticed how much they like putting the prices up each season, but still I went again, because it's probably the only place in the Island where you can eat such a cuisine, and the food was always great. At least, what I also have to admit - they increased the prices again this year, but the falafel portion was much bigger than I remember, even for two people, so be it. Unfortunately, my so far great experience was ruined during the payment - supposed to pay 17€, but was asked for 21€. I told to the lady that probably she made a mistake, as I just had falafel and a water. She told me that it's correct, that I had bread, if I forgot about it. So I said, yes, the bread which you told me it's from the restaurant. Then, she looked at me and said, you had the Bread, so you need to pay for it, it's something like a couvert which is in any other restaurant in Corfu and it's 4€. At this point, the way she looked at me and said this, was ridiculous, like she spoke to some stupid person. This is something unacceptable - if they want to charge pita bread, at least they should say to the staff to DON'T say "this is from the restaurant", to avoid being completely ridiculous during the payment (to the clients who notice it), and also avoid that even you loved the meal, you will never come back. As much as I loved their food, I don't like this tactics and behaviour at all. Increasing prices every single year isn't enough, let's also bring some bread to everyone as a gesture from the restaurant, and charge everyone 4€ on top? I'm sorry, it's ridiculous. It's also ridiculous to have an argument "it's in any other restaurant in Corfu" - no, it's not. Also they should wake up, we are not in Venetian Well, Monastre or another fine dining restaurant, where couvert is on place (I also remind couvert, in any restaurant where they do it, is written in the menu, unlike in Tabula Rasa). 4 euros will obviously not change my life and I don't care for them - I care for the principle, and how they actually try to outsmart their clients. I will say that again - such a shame, as the food was...
Read moreOur son brought home vegan musaka which was so good and we wonted to go to the Tabule Rasa and have a comple lunch there.
We ordered the sample of appetizers which unfortunately was not on menu (hummus, baba ganoush, fava, roasted smashed potatoes, pickles, and pita chips). Every component on the plate was so delicious, full of flavors, and nicely presented.
The Greek salad without feta (vegan version) was refreshing. Then we ordered falafel, from the main menu, and it was served with the salad and tahini sauce. Usually, falafels at the other restaurants are very oily, but in Tabule Rasa we did not fell the excess of oil at all.
We debated for some time how many musaka plates should we order for four people. Finally, we decided to place the three orders. We could not finish all generous portions of musaka and took back home the leftovers. BTW, the leftover musaka remains delicious for a couple of days without any problem (keep it in the fridge, of course).
I wish we'd discovered this little gem much sooner. We will go back again and again even some driving is required...
Read moreSome days you simply have to love Google and it's recommendations, today was one of those days! In Corfu's Old Town and looking for a Vegetarian restaurant, Google suggested we try Tabule rasa. What a perfect find for us not only as Vegetarians but people who love good service, great atmosphere as well as awesome food. We were welcomed with a genuine warmth and felt like old friends of the establishment. Our menus were provided with the perfect commentary of what Tabule rasa had to offer. Within a few minutes we were enjoying the most delicious and authentic Hummus, made with spices that made good transcend to Perfect! Our mains were with us just as quickly and were just as delicious. Spicy Falafel Wraps which were again, the best I have ever enjoyed. We spent several hours in Corfu's Old Town and out of all the experiences we had, Tabule rasa was by far the best. Do not miss out on this amazing eatery if you are...
